yeah I read that article earlier and wondered what would become of it. California's Jerry Frown should have someone read it it to him and explain the irony and how his new bill allocating millions to remove guns from those th shouldn't have them is a joke.

Wherever you have poor to low income areas in cities that is where you have the high gun violence. But how you fix that is the big question. It sure isn't by adding more gun laws.

Yeah! Being a tatooed member of a street gang should be a capital offense right off the bat. Don't wait around until after they have committed murder. Do enough surveillance to identify the tatoos and dress, then double tap them! :86:
But wouldn't that violate their fifth amendment rights?

Look, your not seeing this right. If you enforce the laws on the books against the thugs and gangbangers then you have to go find and arrest those people.
They are DANGEROUS and might shoot police officers!
If you simply criminalize, grandma and grandpas .22 pistol they keep, trying to hang on to their pension check with... No fighting back! Winning! All the cops go home safe and the "illegal guns confiscated" statistic goes up in the Mayors win column.
That way, next January, when the Mayor stands before the press to explain the violent crime rate, he will have a PowerPoint slide showing all those illegal guns "scoop up off the streets" and profess "we don't know why the rate of violent crime is so high. Looky here... we are doing all we can..."
Can't believe y'all didn't know that.

It has nothing to do with economics. It has to do with mind set. I was dirt poor most of my life and never killed or stole from anyone. Save that socio-economic bullsh!t for the liberals.

I beg to differ...I doubt you ever lived in South Chicago or South Central L.A. etc, etc. where drug selling and gang warfare is a way of life (economic lifestile.) Though i'm sure a small percentage is able to escape this, like your story, most do not. And the gun culture is a way of life in this economic society. So how do we change the mind set becomes the big question. But for you to say economics has nothing to do with gun vilance is just plan ignorance.

I came up like Muggsy, and I can't tell you loud enough that it is a choice. I had the part of town I grew up in described as having had a bomb go off, by some one from out of state. My wife even gets irritated now about that, and I no longer need to have the conversation. Given, it takes a ton of work and effort, and that is the part that is lacking that people pick up on. Look at it this way people follow the path of least resistance generally. Which is easier, working your tail off with little to show, or gangbangin' with lots of cash to show. The part of the equation that gets overlooked is this, and the fact that the easy money only lasts for a short time (most are dead long before 30). It's not environment, the economics, but the people, and their choices. I'll end this little tear by saying this: Statistically, I should be dead, in jail, or face down in a ditch with a cigarette for company and a needle for good times. I am not. I may not have much to show for it, but then again, look at what I don't have to show for it.

jiottmc...This is exactly what I'm trying to get across, the people living in these areas of cities are creating this type of environment by their choices. If you can fix the choices you can fix the environment, thus the gun violence.

Well can we agree, that gun laws or any other laws for that matter have very little effect on these people?
So in conclusion, why are the law abiders put into this mix and they become defenseless victims. All due to archaic gun laws that the have no effect anyhow.
Its not GUN Control... It's just Control!
