Hey everyone new to the forum not sure if this question belongs here or not. That being said here it goes, im looking for anyone that has any experience in polishing a kahr slide to help me out. Im looking to polish to a mirror finsh my cw40. Me being egar bever I jumped to the old reliable mothers mag&aluminium polish. The mothers got the slide to a good shine but I still have machine marks :-/. Ive read of methods going from 1000 grit to 2500 grit wet dry sand paper then finshing with polish for that mirror finsh I want. Looking for anyone to help guide me.

.Note: im a major diy guy I hate paying for something I can do also id like to do this by hand maybe even a polishing bob on a drill thats about as far as I want to go into tools. Id rather spend my money on stocking ammo and use elbow grease for this than to loose out on them good ol ammo rush prices and spend money on new tools :-D*

Thanks all,
Matt

The slides are harder than heck. I started with like 400 and worked up. I still have not attained mirror finish just real shiny. Mine are kind of a work in progress. I started a PM45 and a K40.

I think once you hit 1200 or so it's time for polish and preferably a buffer wheel. I think a true mirror finish might require multiple wheels from firm to soft and different compounds.

Have any pics off what you have so far so I can compare were im at so I know what route to take.. and I think id be happy with a just short of mirror finsh as long as the milling marks are gone.
