New member, first post. I am getting ready to purchase either an MK9 or PM9. I know the difference in price and weight. Would be interested to hear of any other differences, advantages, disadvantages of each. Is either more dependable, accurate, durable, etc. Thanks in advance. Reddog

You can't go wrong with either one but it depends on how you tend to carry. PM9 is lighter and easier to put in a holster than the MK9. Both are great guns and you will happier if you buy both...
Sorry...I tend to get carried away.

I agree with IYG. The MK9 is a great little gun but it's heavy for size. Lots of PM9 fans around here and they are very light with the same compactness. I feel your dilemma. Tough choice, you'll like whichever one you get without doubt.

When in doubt...wip the credit card out and take them both home.:7:

Your smiley there at the end is a perfect reenactment of what my wife does when I do as you suggest. I use to have a round head, now it's more like an aircraft carrier complete with lines and speed bumps. Sometimes, well almost always it's worth it.

That sounds about right. Bawanna, seek professional help so you don't get canned already, then send me the name of the shrink, I need one too.

That's a great idea, I haven't used that one yet. Won't save me a beating but she might not beat quite so hard.
Might work just as well on a PM9 and a PM45???
Heck yeah, I might give this a whirl. If you don't hear from me for a few weeks you know it didn't go well but I'll be back.................................

Welcome Reddog. So you hop onto a Kahr forum, and ask opinion between two Kahr's? Did you actually expect to get real advice, other than "buy both"??? :) Just playin! They're both great. I have the PM9, and have never fired an MK9. The PM9 is fantastic in every single way. Reliable, accurate, VERY concealable. The MK9 is super sexy, and the extra weight will probably help recoil a little. That said, the recoil on the PM9 isnt bad at all. I did wrap the grip in "A-grip", which helps alot when the hands get a little sweaty.
So here's the wrap-up. +1 for the pm9 for weight, +1 for the MK9 for sex appeal.
Answer? I have no idea. They both rock. Sorry I couldnt be a help :)

Buy them both, buy them both, buy them both, buy them both, incase you have any questions, buy them both. If $ is a concern then i would start with the pm9 because it is the ultimate carry gun and then add the mk9 for pure sex appeal like kb2wji said. Can't go wrong with either one though. Good luck and whatever you decide remember what jocko says "shoot it like you stole it".

Is the break-in period the same for the MK9 as the PM9?

should be. most as u read are perfect out of the box but 200 rounds seems to be the norm for mental confidence. Actually the gun and shooter need to both mate up- sorta.

I have booth. Just got back from the range today with the PM9. Shot it very well today by using the 6rd mag with the Pearce extension. I am 69 yrs old and wear distance contacts. Recently got a special pair of glasses - progressive lenses from plain to readers. They really have improved my shooting along with steady use of a grip exerciser. I love to shoot both guns but for overall use if I could only have one, it would be the PM9 only because it can be carried in the pocket or on the belt and is light both ways. You cannot go wrong with either but choose the one that has the most utility for you and then start saving for the other one since you will be "hooked" on them anyway.

Welcome, have a great time with the info and people you'll meet here. I can only speak to the PM9. It's a great little gun. Compact, light, accurate and just plain fun. All my guns are carryable, if I can't carry it I don't buy it. That's just me. I know others in here feel differently and that's ok, there's no right and wrong. I can tell you this, I carry my PM9 more than any other gun. Good luck with your choice or you can do what I did and buy 2.

I have a PM40 that I tried out a Hogue grip on making it about the same grip width as the MK series. IMO, the extra width made it much less comfortable for regular carry in a IWB holster. The PM is still heavy enough that in pocket carry it tries to pull your pants down. You want the PM.

My two cents......even tho some will argue that the heavier MK9 would be shot more at the range, aren't we really talking about a carry gun? The MK9 would be fine, the PM9, I believe would get carried more. Again......MY two cents. TJ

Welcome TommyJ, another Washingtonian from the right side of the state. Starting to be a few of us, maybe 10 or so that I know of. Stay and play, I'm hopelessly outnumbered by Florida, and the East Coast in general.
I'm in Monroe on the left but sneak over to your side often as I can. Just a better class of people.
And your right, the PM9 would be carried more. I still vote for both. Would be a good start.
