Is it normal for the top bullet to hit the slide lock lever?

When inserting the magazine with a bullet, I can actually see the cartridge tilt slightly to the right, away from the slide lock.

The 2nd cartridge is actually slightly forward in the magazine... is it too far forward?

Thanks.

Search around a bit. There has actually been some post here where it caused issues when shooting (premature slide lock back). When it did folks ever so slightly sanded the slide release until it no longer hit the round. Make sure the mag follower still engages the slide stop though.

I always tap the back of the mag against my other hand to be sure the bullets are all the way back before inserting it in the gun. This seems to be especially important with Kahrs, but I do it with all my guns.

That was happening in my CW45. I've been trying to get it to shoot cast bullets reliably and the bullets were getting so mangled by the slide stop projection that some of them wouldn't feed. I just ground the projection off and solved the problem. It seems to me that if the bullet is hitting the slide stop that hard, something's going to break eventually. Now I have to count rounds but I learned to count a long time ago so it is no big deal.

A little sanding of the end of the takedown lever gave me the desired clearance.

I have filed mine down a bit, but may have gone too far... we will see this weekend.

Regarding rounds in the magazine, when the top cartridge is pulled out of the mag, to be chambered, the one below it is dragged forward about. .125 to .25 of an inch

that 2nd round movement is normal. if ur not getting prematrue slide locking open then ur OK but that bullet should not hit the slide lock lever, so as some of the membershere advised. file/sad a tad off that nub and retest. I would also email kahr attn: Jay and state whatis happeing and seeif they wllsend u a new slide stop lever.Urs could be out of spec a tas, but again a slight file/sand thing and u can takecareof it. also

Ifit ain'tbroke, don't fix it.

It is locking open. Have over 300 rounds through it, new frame, extractor broke and lager found crack in frame when fixing extractor.

Not too interested in shipping this again.

What are we looking at here, P380?

Yes, it's a p380 I forgot to mention that.

I haven't had a chance to get to the range yet to see if my filing down the slide lock helped. I am using Remington fmj, Winchester wb, and other fmj... all hit slide lock. Hornady jhp does not hit the lever.

Get us some pics from the top with the slide off.

Yeah. Looks like you need to file a little off the tab on the slide stop lever until it clears just a hair.

Is that top round all the way back in the mag or has it slid forward at all?

The round has slid forward, as they all do, once the top round has been stripped off.
