Man, we played War when I was a kid on the playground which included falling off the slide when you got hit. I think the PE teacher even played too. She was probably a bad influence on me.

Things are different than they were during my youth (cold war days). We played any type of war game imaginable. Anywhere! Today's world is a different beast. Was the punishment stupid, for a second grader, totally yes. For a 4,5 and up, nope. They should know better by then. Just the way it is now days...

This is blatant mind control and brain washing aimed at raising up a generation that will meekly go along with disarmament. We need a new wave of McCarthyism to weed these socialist termites out of the educational woodwork because they are eating the structure of our society apart from the inside out, concentrating on plyable young minds. We should not be allowing one incident such as this, much less occuring over and over with increasing frequency. I discussed this stuff with a second grade teacher and she defended the school under the zero tolerance policy. I asked about what other stuff do the kids do and she said she gets cussed out occasionally using adult 4 letter words, explicit porn doodles are a regular event (yeah, in second grade), and some violence. She said those get the kids a talking too but no suspension, no principal, no remedial consequence.

It started a generation ago with the liberal baby raising philosophy which led to liberal teachers when they grew up and liberal administrators, text books etc. They all cry we need more money to fix it, but it doesn't cost much to make a few paddles.

The difference is crystal clear when you compare Catholic schools with public. Same inner city kids, same or larger class size, excellent discipline, excellent learning, less than half the cost. At a televised event, a Catholic school principle told Obama all this and he said maybe we should send all our kids to you as a threat and she replied I agree and I'll take them tomorrow. Obama turned and walked away knowing he lost that one.

What really got me was starting with my kids in the early grades with the school of positive reinforcement.

My wife's best friend just resigned her teaching position because of the stupidity. Sex education in the second grade is ok. Can't punish the bad kids when they act up or use very bad language but one says "bang" and it's the end of the world. Shame. She was a good teacher.
