My local outfitter has CM9s on sale for $379. Somebody talk me out of it...

I don't need it
I don't pocket carry (yet)
I can't buy 9mm ammo

So why do I still want it? Help!

No help here. I don't need one either, but at that price it sure would make a nice companion for my CW9.

Because you do. That's a philosophical question that cannot be answered. I want it because I want it. Why ask why? As many folks told me last time I hemmed and hawed about a gun...poop or get off the pot! ;)

That's a pretty good deal. I personally don't care for the M series Kahrs. Had a PM for a short while (my first Kahr) and sold it after getting my P9. Just didn't like the short grip and its still too heavy (IMO) for pocket carry. If I'm gonna pocket carry, it's gonna be a Smith airweight or I'd spend for a P380/CW380. I need to be in the 10-12oz range for comfortable pocket carry. But that's me. Many folks happily carry the PM/CM series.

That's about the same price I paid for mine right after I got a CW9. For me at least, I like the CW9 better for IWB...easier to draw fast, extra rd, etc. The CM9 is only pocket carried so if you don't pocket carry, there's your excuse not to buy one.;)Of course. it is the best shootin', most reliable "little 9mm" I've ever shot.:D

Jump!

You can clean up the mess later. Trust me, I'm an expert at this stuff. An internet expert but an expert none the less. My wife and my CC company can attest to this.

Just jump, you'll sleep better.

You want it for the same reason that men climb mountains, because it's there. Kahrs are in your blood. You cannot resist. You are powerless. Buy it and don't look back.

Is there a wife involved here. I forgot that part. Maybe a beat down involved. Something to consider before you go ahead and buy it anyhow.

I know this to be true. Bruises and the couch are temporary. Guns are forever.

That the same dude with the 3 boats looking for the edge? The Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria as I recall.

Didn't realize he was still around.

Ask yourself, that's really why you posted here didn't you? Go ahead and buy it, we'll take the blame.

My sentiments exactly. Be sure ammo is available. I'm caught with a recently purchased CM9, just barely got it slightly broken in, but no more ammo available locally to finish my break-in period.

The ammo is there, at least at Walmart. You just have to be there at the right time. Which I know is difficult for a lot of folks. I need another pistol like I need another hole in my head but if I could find a mk9 at my LGS I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. I love Kahrs all steel pistols.

Dang. I don't wanna shoot it. I just wanna own it. I've got other 9s just waiting for ammo. Wouldn't want them to get lonely. Seriously, that is one of my concerns. Might be a long time before I can even break it in. But I was at Gander this afternoon too and they wanted $549 for their CM9. I figure for $170 difference I can let it sit until I can buy ammo. Lord it's hard to keep coming up with these rationalizations...

I recently purchased a PM 45 and here in southwest Florida we're in a serious ammunition drought. I ran into a buddy with two Lee Loaders and they came with dies for the .44 Special and .45 ACP. I've got a Colt Series 70 1911 and got the PM 45 to start carrying the .45acp instead of the .40SW I've been packing. But the problem I've run into is this PM 45 has the polygonal rifling isn't very partial to lead and it doesn't feed the LSWC worth a damn, so I don't bother trying. I was able to locate some 200 grain LSWC bullets and loaded up about 400 of them only to discover the Kahr isn't the place to use them. Fortunately my Colt 1911 loves them so I've got something to shoot them with. So now I've ordered 500 230 gr Copper FMJ and am waiting for the day shipping becomes popular again! I broke my PM 45 in with 230 gr FMJ rounds and 185 gr. Barnes SCHP, which are my carry load now.

I'm hopeful that this ammo drought will soon come to pass. Perhaps we'll be waiting until the next 2014 election but I'm willing to wait if we get someone worth waiting for into office. I have to give the current administration some credit though, they have really proven to be effective ammo salesmen! However I'm still trying to figure out the purpose for all that ammo purchased by the Social Security Administration. DHS I can sort of understand, however the quantity still bothers me. Perhaps one day when we get a friendly back in the Whitehouse, we'll end up getting some very good discounts on 9mm and 223. With any luck that is... :Amflag2:

+1. Best subcompact 9mm on the market! Can be pocket carried comfortably, but I don't know how to explain the bulge when sitting down. I carry mine on the waist, where it is so comfortable I forget it is there.

Since you wanted someone to talk you out of one:

I have 900 or more rounds thru mine. It has been back to Kahr twice. Still nosedives and stovepipes. It's a piece of crap. Save your money. Put $400 in your IRA and call it a day.

You're welcome.

Thank you. Even though i don't believe they are crap, I do have an MK9 that already runs fantastic. And I can put that $400 to other use.

Just purchased a new CM9 last week for pocket carry and love it so far. I paid more than $379 for sure and would have loved to find one for that. Took it to the range yesterday for the first time and its a great little gun. Rides in my pocket like it belongs there. Only issues I had was mag related. The mag that came with it failed to lock the slide back when empty on the first two uses, after that it worked perfectly. The base plate is not the best, I could slide it off with my thumb if I wanted, but it hasn't come apart on its own and should be fine. I have an older MK9 mag that is much better. Other than that had a few weird left shoulder ejections but they again were in the first two mags fired and haven't happened since. Very accurate, light recoiling little gun. Can't find a bad thing to say about it as of yet. Hopefully I won't find anything in the future.

Congrats on your new purchase! However I read your closing sentence and realized you missed the bad thing about your gun. It's not a .45!! :p I suggest you keep trying, it's worth the effort, lol! ;)

You guys are no help... I'm a goner.

Talk you off the ledge ... ok, let's see ...

Kahr's are lousy guns, right? I mean, that's what this forum is all about, right?

They're wimpy little things meant for pansies who can't lift a bigger gun, right?

How about this ... Kahr's have a funny name. Who ever heard of a name with an "h" in the middle of it?

Is any of this helping?

You guys suck. :D. I love my Kahrs but I really am trying NOT to buy this gun. Problem is you guys keep helping me find reasons TO buy it and I'm running out of reasons not to. Welcome home RR!

Now he tells me I suck? I'm looking for a place on the floor to curl up and suck my thumb.

Looking back a few I see you have an MK, don't get any better than that.
A CM other than being lighter is a duplication of tools.

I don't advocate pocket carry, real men carry their weapons on their belt like, well real men.

Sew the 400 in your mattress to save for ammo if it ever shows up again, leather, belts or most importantly a 45. See real men above.

I know, I muddied the damn waters and I suck again.
