My wife and I are hosting a Chinese family this week and the father asked to see my guns. 50 years old and he has never seen or touched any firearm. You should have seen his face. He was in awe. Not just at the weapons but at our freedom to own them.

See that's what this gun debate is all about: freedom. As Americans we have the right to decide for ourselves. We have the right to make our own choices. Good or bad. Any restriction on our rights is just someone trying to impose his choice on everyone and stealing everyone's freedom. You have the freedom to hate guns. You have the freedom to love guns. But you do not have the freedom to tell me that I must either love or hate guns.

Anti gunners will try to lure you into an argument where you must justify your desire to own weapons. Do not fall into this trap. Gun control isn't bad because guns are good. Gun control is bad because it trounces every American's freedom to choose for themselves whether or not they wish to own firearms.

Don't argue for guns. Argue for freedom. I don't want to live like China.

Totally agree. Every time I contact my Senators or Congressmen I tell them guns are secondary in this fight. It is our constitution that is under attack.
You said it better than I could have.

How did it come up in conversation that he asked to see your guns? Did the family know before staying with you that you own firearms? Did they learn that you own firearms only after they came to stay with you? Did they assume you own firearms because you live in the USA?

Just curious...

Good question. I'm typically quiet about owning firearms but we went to dinner with my brother in law who is very vocal. So they asked me about mine. Most of their questions were about ownership vs. the guns themselves. They wondered if every American owns firearms. Instead of giving them a statistic, I just said we all have the freedom to choose. I was proud of that statement.

We are blessed right now but our rights are in jeopardy. We have a lot to protect. Write your congressman. Thanks!

Very well said. The anti-gun people tend to be "pro choice" on everything else except guns.
