Issues have been reported with Glock service pistols used by the Palm Beach Sheriff's office. Most all striker related. Glock is working quickly to replace the faulty parts.

what caligber and model:
Indiana state Police about 4 years ago bought 1200 G22's and had so many issues that clock came in and took um all back and they have been carrying G17 since and they seem to love the gun. Not sure whatthe G22 issues were. It happens and as u reported, doesn't matter what company it is, it can happen. Most all of these gun makers or product makers vendcor out so so much of their stuff that before they know they have a probmel 10K of a certin thisg isout there. With Ppolice deparetments they have clout with glock over taking care of issue what ever they are, where we the simnple gun owner who more than likely bought a glock in the same batch the Pal beach cops did, and have an issue have not alot of choices other than to send um back...
Tman, I have no doubt glock is working quickly. they did with the stateof Indiana, only they evidently couldn't get the G22 right or the dept told um to replace them fo rthe officers l;ost faith i them..
I always wondered to: what happened to those 1200 returned G22's..??? Just sayin:behindsofa:

GRRR... I just tried again to access the firearms in the GlockTalk Classifieds! I can't even post in the newcomer test post area, but the forum welcomes me and I'm listed as a member! I just sent my second email to "Contact Us" there and am just really tired of wasting my time there. I joined back in February because I wanted to check there for members selling firearms as we do here, but that place is so User NON-Friendly. I bought 3 Glocks elsewhere... their loss.
Sorry... just had to say something SOMEWHERE! This forum is just so great!

I wonder if those G22's wound up on Bud's police trade-ins page.
I found on another page, that it was mostly showing up in the .40s, but also in the 9mm. I don't know the Model numbers.

I don't know wht Glock did to change the Gen 3 to a Gen 4 but it seems that they have created their own problem. I know many depts that dropped 40cal Gen 4's because when a light was mounted on the weapon malfunctions were the norm and not the exception.
Even after removing the light the malfunctions frequently continued. Apparently some change occurred that made the weapons not like having a light mounted on it.

I've been a GT member since Oct 2011 (when I got my EXO G27).
Never had a problem of any kind.
Never been warned, even talked to, by the admins.
I always use the top secret user name Barth on the handful of forums I'm a member of.
There's no doubt issues have increased with Gen 4 vs Gen 3 guns.
But the lions share seem to be with 9mm.
Mostly ejection issues.
I think the term BTF, or Brass to Face, may well have been coined on GT describing gen 4 9mm guns.
Even some late gen 3 weapons seem to be afflicted.
There are certainly folks having issues with gen 4 40 S&W as well.
But they seems to be in lower numbers.
I had considered getting a gen 3 G30 for a while.
But even those seem to be hit or miss out of the box.
More with FTF issues.
I love my gen 4 EXO G27.
It's been a good gun for me with over 6K rounds in three calibers.
But I very much doubt there will be any more Glocks in my future.
It's strange that getting pelted in the face with hot brass is considered normal,
and not problematic at all, by some GT members.

I button my shirt all the way up, wear good shooting glasses, and wear my Kahr cap with the brim IN FRONT and as low as possible... no problem.
The last hot brass was from my neighbor to the left and down the back of my shirt... after which I started making sure my shirt was buttoned up all of the way!
My shirts are always untucked so I just pulled the back out a bit more so it stopped burning after my shoulder blades as it fell free!

The Wichita Police Dept. went back to 9mm, from .40, Glocks, citing, the 9mm was more accurate at longer ranges,(?) the .40 had too much recoil (?), and that the 9mm was easier to control, and had a higher capacity magazine, and that advances in 9mm ammo made it as effective as the 40.(?) The price tag for the switch was $350,000 for weapons and holsters, but with deals struck with Glock and Smith and Wesson, it will only cost them $31,000. (I want there buyer to negotiate my next gun purchase). Resulting in a 60-40 split of pistols, with 60% choosing S&W and 40% staying with Glock. One officer admitted that lack of practice contributed to a lack of accuracy with the .40's. While some, mostly female officers thought the grip was too big.

Hmm, holsters should have been the same for 9 and 40.
Range officers and instructors play a big role in instigating this stuff with the command staff who usually aren't terribly gun saavy to begin with.
Lack of training for officers is always a huge factor and one that's very difficult to make command staff understand when doing budget stuff. Also one of the biggest liability issues which is also hard to make them understand especially for small depts like ours where shootings are rare as chicken lips which is a very good thing.

My understanding is that the FBI starts their new agents out with Glock 40s.
If they can't qualify with the 40?
They are given a 9mm.

My gen 3 G27 Glock ejects perfect in three calibers.
That includes 9mm with the 40 extractor.
But there are plenty of videos with folks getting BTF.
And It doesn't look pretty - LOL!

Maxwell Smart is alive and well here at Kahrtalk. You heard it here first.
Now where's 99?
I enlisted in KT the first or second day of it's life....depending on how you view time zones....in response to a "c'mon over" announcement on GT's Kahr sub forum.
I'm still a member of GT and have no issues with them.

I didn't even know what a Kahr was.
Had never been a member of a gun forum.
My full size Sig P220 45 was too big to carry all the time easily.
So my search for an all stainless DA pocket pistol led me to a NIB MK40 Elite with NS.
The Kahr website had a link for KahrTalk.
And this place seemed informative and friendly.
So I joined.
It's been a colorful ride and I've made good friends along the way.
Never imagined I'd still be here almost two years later.

A glock is.. perfection in a firearm, or didn't you see the ad?
I never bought into it either. I bought a Star M30 of all things, back when everyone had to have a wonder-nine. Read about one that had 100,000 rounds downrange and was still going strong, wore out a few springs along the way, but the frame, slide, and barrel were all original. I was impressed, and the price was too good to pass up. Mine is still running fine after 20 years.
Jocko, you got some shooting to do to catch up.

It seems to me if Glock is actually having a problem with it's firing pins that it's in how the firing pins are heat treated and not the fact that they are a MIM part. I also find it strange that Glock would blame the ammo. The gun should function with any commercially available ammunition.

As a certified Glock armorer and on several other weapon systems I am NOT surprised at their actions. For them the weapon is NEVER at fault but everything and everybody else is. Glock makes a great product but once they cornered the market they grew arrogant and aloof.

I think I will scratch the Glock .45 from my list of High Cap .45's to look at. I do want to thank whoever it was that mentioned the FN .45 15+1. That looks like a great pistol, and FN is a quality manufacturer. The LA police dept. ordered officers not to use the Glock .45 back in 2005 over the same issue.
I still like that SAR K2, it being metal framed, and a CZ-75 knock-off. If I ever get another full capacity 9mm, it will be a CZ-75 or variation of it.
I joined GlockTalk about the same time I joined KahrTalk. I have not experienced, nor witnessed, any of the problems discussed in this thread.
I prefer to buy my toys from local dealers, so I never tried to access the Firearms Listings--until today. I am able to browse all listings, without a problem. Some websites limit access to their buy/sell forum, until members have been active for a period of time. That may be the filter new members are bumping up against.

I love my G19 and it is my EDC. So far, not a single problem. I did have a huge issue with a G36 that I quickly took back to my LGS, but they are known to be more problematic than any other Glock.
I don't see how anyone on this forum can criticize Glock when Kahr has had its fair share of unhappy campers and problems concerning their firearms. I'd say Glock has proven itself as a reputable firearm manufacturer since the 80's.
