It looked to me like it went pretty well for the would-be victim. I guess that was the DRT (hopefully) guy's driver accomplice who popped around the corner drawing a weapon and then deciding maybe this wasn't a good guy to rob, and then disappeared.

That looked like it was the getaway driver. It did seem that he drew a pistol and then changed his mind and took off.

You're right. The first guy was deader than a doornail.

The store had good situational awareness too. He kept checking behind himself and looking around. I'm guessing that is a common occurrence in that area, so he was ready. With the speed of his reaction, I'm guessing he heard/saw the silver car stopping and knew what was about to go down, he didn't seem off guard at all.
Mental preparedness will save your life. You can be the best shot in the world, but if you can't make your weapon ready, it will do you no good.
I think part of what scared off the second guy was the round striking the wall right next to him...either way he didn't want any part of a victim willing to fight back.

I'm betting that the would-be victim WASN"T carrying his pistol in his jeans pocket and belted into his eat!

This robbery went right. The good guy prevailed and the bad guy hopefully expired to pole dance for Satan.
