View Full Version : Beretta reacts to Maryland gun grabbing bill
Our current Governor O'Malley D-MD (and your future 2016 Presidential candidate) signed his signature gun control bill (SB 281) yesterday.
In response Beretta released the following statement:
http://blog.berettausa.com/bid/292160/Response-to-Gov-O-Malley-s-signature-of-SB281-Your-Gun-Rights
Summary: Future expansions are likely to be in other states. But current operations in Maryland will continue.
While I cheer the former I boo the latter. I understand the financial and contractual difficulties in completely moving ongoing operations out of state. But Magpul seemed to find a way to do it in Colorado. Anyway, mixed feelings on my part.
A more positive opinion on the matter is here: http://www.guns.com/2013/05/17/beretta-announces-plans-to-move-after-maryland-gov-signs-bill/

there are some companies that see their current employees as friends as well as real human beings. I can understand that feeling. They could say screw the "state" and decide to move to another more friendly state, but can they do their long term employees right in doing so?
It ain't all about "us" all the time.

Have they? I've read Magpul's threats to move out of Colorado, but I didn't know they had.
What state did they moved to?

Well Shame on Beretta! They could have moved across the dirty Potomac River to Virginia or up I-95 to Delaware (Both Friendlier Gun States) And P!ssed on this Left wing Governor!
Just another reason to not buy their products.....

Sounds to me like they are moving, just doing so on their own terms and without disruption to contracts.
...we will take steps to evaluate such investments in other States.
Beretta moved some of their facility to Fredericksburg, Va years ago. I hope the rest follows.

Maryland has always been anti-gun. I lived in Gaithersburg MD for a little less than a year and was glad to leave.

I got lost in downtown Balitimore once, and was damn glad to get out of there. The Inner Harbor is nice, but like the Capitol Mall in DC, make a wrong turn and things change very rapidly.
