I narrowed my search down to the CM9 and a S&M Shield. I ended up going with the CM9 and can't wait to get it. Hope this is as sweet as I think it will be.

Great choice. Follow all the advice in the stickies. Clean it and lube it, give a few break in rounds and it will serve you well. Got mine in January. Little over 1000 rounds so far. It's been 100%.

No, I sent a PM inquiring about buying one here, but then found a steal elsewhere.

Sorry. Just had a DUH episode! :001_huh: The stickies are threads that are pinned to the beginning of the New Member Area (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56) and the Kahr-Tech (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) sections of the forum.
Normally, Wyntrout posts a welcome with some very important info, but he must be busy elsewhere. So here is a cut/paste including some important sticky threads:
Welcome to the forum, CZB1962. Here's some more links and info, in case you don't have enough!
Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by K a h r Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can view it and/or download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Please watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:
T, TP, CW, P, & PM/CM Series:

MK series:

K series:
http://www.kahr.com/Pistols/Kahr-K9-Elite.asp
There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lubrication Diagram:
http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14750
Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Another great resource for information on Kahrs... Archives of Magazine and Internet Reviews for Kahr pistols by industry experts. They test these pistols and report on their views and the ammo they tested in it. This is a good way to find ammo that might fit your needs along with accuracy and feeding in the pistol... usually from a rest with velocity and energy, as well as penetration and expansion sometimes... very informational.

Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?
One very important bit of advice: Hold the Kahr pistol firmly when firing OR CHAMBERING a round. These compact pistols need all of the force they can get from the slide to get a round into the chamber successfully. If you don't hold the pistol firmly, part of the needed momentum is transferred to MOVING THE PISTOL and the top round will DIVE and jam into the right side of the feed ramp. The weak hand, over hand rack method gives the best grip and a firm rack will give you the best chance at chambering a round.
Use the weak hand fingers over the slide(clear of the ejection port), thumb along the slide and pointing to the rear. Use the gun hand to simultaneously firmly push the gun as you give a vigorous rack with the weak hand and cleanly release the slide as it reaches the rear limit and is "snatched" from the weak hand. This approximates a real rack from firing and beats the slide release method WHEN executed properly. Much more strength can be exerted when this is done closer to the body.
Here's a video on that. The first part is what I'm talking about:

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

PS: I keep thinking of stuff to add and help new members... and am trying to cover most of the popular subjects. Yes, it's repetitious to many, but possibly not to all new members. This approach is easier than having to look up every tidbit for each new member or question that arises. :)

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

I narrowed my search down to the CM9 and a S&M Shield.
I think you might find your desired shield on a different forum; I assume you're opting for leather over kydex...

I should have said OR the Shield. But then agin who knows.
I have not rally given the holster too much thought yet. Been reading here to see what others like. What makes you say you assume?

Too subtle... I suspect you meant S&W, not S&M, shield...

:D:D:D:D:D I didn't even notice. That's funny.
It's actually the S&W M&P shield. Guess I am a little dyslexic today.

Curious, what convinced you to choose the CM9 over the Shield?

I first became interested in a “pocket 9” when I saw the Diamondback DB9 at a local dealer.
I then began to research the many options like the CM9, Sheild, Nano, LC9 and so on.
I looked at the LC9 and did not like the feel or the trigger. I was never able to hold the Nano, or the Shield as they are hard to come by.
The CM9 was available at Gander Mountain to look at (ridiculous price) and it felt really good. I really liked the size and weight. The DB9 was tiny, but felt too light and I was worried it would kick like a mule (wife wants to shoot it) along with some quality concerns.
Because of some things I read about Kahr changing their warranty, and the Shields reviews, I was leaning toward the Shield. Because it is so hard to find right now I ended up talking to a LOT of dealers and every time I mentioned the CM9 I got a positive response. That made me reconsider and I decided to try the CM9. That and the fact that I found a brand new one for $339 shipped :).

So my CM9 arrived Thursday and I have been going through the initial cleaning. I was looking forward to trying it out today but it looks like it is going to rain all day :(
Tomorrow is only a 10% chance of rain though :)
Anyone want to guess what I am doing tomorrow?

kahrs 5 year warranty IMO is OK. if u got issue it willbe from the git go. I realize smith gives a lifetime warranty but I don't think they will pick up theppstage on ur gun 5 years from now. Fix it yes, Kahr will about do the same. I don't know of to many who have had to pay to fix their kahrs once out of wrranty. Pay postage yup, but I think most companies don'thonor that stuff.

It was a place called Florida Gun Exchange but I am pretty sure the sale is over. It was supposed to be $349 plus shipping and they goofed when they sold mine so I got it for $319 + S&H:D
I think $399 is their regular price.
