View Full Version : Thinking of selling a couple of guns

Never felt this way about any of them before. But, in my .40 guns, a Beretta PX4 has pretty much replaced my Ruger P94. It holds more rounds and I shoot it better. That kind of obsoletes my matching PC4 too.

I Could sell the Rugers and get a CX4. Or, I could just bag the pistol caliber and pickup an AR.

Decisions...

Obviously most folks are gonna say go w/ the AR. I would say the same if you don't have one already. But then again, the CX4 is pretty high on my list. The ability to stockpile a single caliber has become more and more important to me. Not that I won't have a few others on hand, but in the thousands of rounds range, having just 1 sure makes it easy.

Haven't seen a single review of the CX4 that the person didn't pretty much love it. With them now being back down to a pseudo-reasonable price...would be hard NOT to buy one once I get a couple of other guns in the cabinet that are on my list.

Do it...Doooooo it :-)

I went just the opposite because of the shortage of 9mm. Bought a 40 and a 45 to go with my 9s. Now I can shoot whatever ammo is most available and reasonably priced. Lately that's been the 40.

These have been difficult to find, but you're in luck (http://www.kygunco.com/beretta-cx4-storm-9mm-151-capacity-57531).

I have plenty of great 9mm pistols and have .40 too. I have other carbines, of the .308 variety and really have never seen the need for an AR platform. If I want to keep some space around me, .308 is nice. But, I bunches of ammo gets heavy and expensive.

The motivation here is just that the P94, although reliable, doesn't do anything any better than my other pistols and holds fewer rounds. So, it sits. The PC4, also a wonderful carbine in its own right, doesn't share magazines with the better pistols. The P94 and PC4 are roughly equivalent to the value of a CX4.

The PC4 is like a slightly bigger 10-22.

The .40 carbine is a pretty handy weapon. It is small enough and light enough for inside work and is quieter than a shotgun. But, I can carry a bunch of rounds pretty easily. Packing 200 rounds in magazines is simple. It they shoot in the pistol I am carrying too, that is handy. It makes a wonderful, suburban SHTF combination.

I've never liked ARs. They have always seemed ugly to me (I don't own a glock either). They still are ugly to me, but I think because the antis always seem to rail against them that I suddenly think it would be nice to have. It would probably grow on me after playing with one for awhile.

Close, but my Beretta is in .40. So, I would be looking for the PX4 compatible CX4 in .40

I would probably buy through ARMSLIST and avoid tax and transfer fee.

I feel the same way. I had a Match Target, liked it but didn't love it. I hate cleaning them. I sold mine 6 months before the panic. Boy did I screw up.

My son bought an M4 couple weekends ago at the gun show and I kind of want one again. Theres so many you'll always be able to get parts. And like a Glock they are a Mr. Potato Head gun. All kinds of crap to hang on them and change the personality.

Still don't know if I would warm up to an AR. With all the stuff that can hang on them, nothing makes them look any better. But, if they are supposed to be so evil to the non-gun crowd, they must have some redeeming value.

The CX4 in 9 is really starting to show up now on GunBroker quite a bit now. Shouldn't be a problem now if you want it in 9. In 40, it's always been around although 2 months back the dumb things were $1500 (not).

The CX4 is also gonna be quite a bit lighter to haul around than your PC4. Even if you scope it, it's gonna be under 7lbs. I think it's sub-5lbs out of the box.

I'd make that trade...mag compat w/ your PX4 (if you match up) and by all account plenty accurate out to the effective range of 9/40/45. I think it's maybe the best PCC out there right now for what you get for the $. A good 9mm AR is crazy expensive (a decent quality one anyway). Dunno, just think the CX4 is a good firearm to have on hand in addition to your go-to handgun, AR, and shotty.

Wait, I'm confused. You think the AR is ugly but want a CX4? I can't say I agree with ya, but to each his own. Since I have no interest in .40 this would be an easy one for me. Dump all the 40's, buy an AR and give Obama the one fingered salute.

I think buying ANY gun is a one fingered salute to our idiot in chief...and the CX4 was on the ban list along w/ the ARs, so either way you are doing a good service in buying either one.

I have to agree though, the CX is an odd bird in the looks department. Not a regular rifle, not a 'tactical' looking AR. It rides the fence. I initially didn't like it much. But at a sub-AR weight, extremely short, it's pretty compelling for a pistol caliber carbine. Only other thing I'd personally consider in a PCC would be the KelTec sub 2k w/ a full red lion upgrade. THAT is an excellent 'truck/car gun' to keep riding around w/ you.

I don't think there's any avoiding the tax here in Washington anymore Alfonse. Used to be a few Rebel dealers who said they weren't tax collectors on transfers but all I know of have started doing it.
You might do like we used to do on cars and phoney a lower price receipt and save some or document that it was a gift and free MAYBE.

The only internet purchase the state can track and nail you on the tax which is suppose to apply to all internet purchases.

I know it sucks.

The CX4 is ugly too. It looks like something to fight Cylons with, or some other hollyweird thing. The PC4 is better looking, but the pistol just doesn't hold enough rounds.

Yeah, you can avoid the tax, if you can find a private party sale. No dealer/ffl transfer involved. I'll keep watching Armslist and see if one shows up. If not, taxes have to be paid.

I really like the Beretta...I think I need a little Model 84 in .380 and a .40 Storm Carbine.

The Storm is (as we've discussed) already a seriously goofy looking rifle...now we are gonna have to endure a GREEN one. Ugh! :D

I think Beretta's rifles were designed by the same guy who did the High Point Carbine. I agree on the Sub 2000. Great concept, but the idea of paying money for a Kel-Tec...not sure I could do that again.

I can't wait to see it! The Storm is goofy looking. It might make a good argument for buying a 3d printer and seeing if I can come up with a better looking stock.
