View Full Version : Illinois House passes Shall Issue bill
Illinois is the ONLY state in the country that is completely NO Issue, although many May Issue states are effectively the same. Nevertheless no means no, and a federal court says that violates the Constitution and gave Illinois a deadline to craft a carry bill.
The House passed a Shall Issue bill today that, while not perfect, is a long way from what currently exists. We'll see what emerges, but they're up against a deadline to get something passed.

It looks like a very small step, on a very bumpy road, in the right direction.

As I see it, since the Supreme Court struck down the current law you now live in a lawless state and you are free to carry as you see fit as there are now no laws prohibiting concealed carry. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dang! I'll be there next month to see my granddaughter. I think it will be too soon to be able to CCW there. I'll have to depend on my Gerber FAST Draw as my primary carry... and that might not be legal! But my Kahrs will be at hand for our motel room defense! I love Florida's Concealed WEAPON Permit!

I live in Illinois.. It's a pretty crap situation. The latest bill that the House and Senate have both agreed on will require a $150 app fee (not horrible), 16 hours of training (I don't know if this will be a separate cost), and fingerprinting (also don't know if this will be additional cost). If each is a separate cost, we'll be looking at ~$500 possibly... too much for a lot of the people in our >8% unemployed state
Also, the same bill does nothing for the municipal bans on certain firearms (Chicago AWB), and denies carrying in municipal parks, at sporting events, and on any public transportation systems....
You have a voice, and you have a vote.

Yes.. Yes I do.. They've heard it quite often since the "unconstitutional ruling" in December! Don't know if anyone is listening, but it's been out there!

No out of state permits will be honored. $300 application fee for non-residents obtaining IL license.
