I purchased my CM9 new on 4/23, and have put a total of 160 rounds through it. It has functioned flawlessly through those 160 rounds, but I have just noticed that a gouge has developed below and under the slide stop. The CM9 is unmodified, except for Talon Grips, and a Crimson Trace laser. This seems like a rather drastic wear pattern to be experienced after so few rounds. Does anyone know why this is happening? Does Kahr's technical support monitor and respond to posts in this forum?

There shouldn't be any wear in that area. It looks like someone may have gouged the frame with a screwdriver when trying to remove the slide stop incorrectly. Tech support doesn't monitor Kahr Talk, but you could send the pictures to them directly.

That's a new one on me. If not damage from a screwdriver, could it possibly be a crack - a flaw in the frame? If the former, lot's of luck. If the latter, Kahr will take care of it.

Thanks for your opinions, and I tend to agree with you, although I find it hard to understand, how the slight prying action I applied could have caused that indentation unless the polymer is relatively soft. I guess I'll just live with it, and chalk another one up to experience.

After a few times breaking it down you can push the pin out enough to remove easily . Pushing down on the edge of table those first few times will set the pin back enough to remove by hand. It does look like a sharp edged screw driver that someone used to crank out the slide stop. Or edge of a pocket knife.
I have watched a local gun sales monkey try to break down a new pistol he knew nothing about and gave up ,sooo it could have happened in a gun shop.

After the second time I removed the slide, I was able to remove the slide stop only using my fingers, so the CM9 hasn't been touched with a screw driver in over 3 weeks. I guess the fact that it took me 3 weeks to notice it, may indicate that it could have been damaged when I bought it. In any case, it's there and I'll live with it. Adds Character!:Amflag2:

Yeah the first disassembly is a bear. I had to push like crazy from the other side to get mine out.
Like you said, it just adds character. After you carry that and shoot a few thousand rounds through it it may have a few more dings. Just look at it a love marks.

should not be there, gonnabe impossableto decipher who did it etc. KIahr will not replace it either. It will do no harmother than cosmetic. I can't imagine it coming out of the factory tatway either, as that is the firstIhave ever seen EVER like that. that polymer is not soft by any standards, not even sure a pinted object could have done that.
My suggestion: the gun is working 100%.u bought it for protection, not to put in an art museum, . Life with it, safe the grief of trying to get it fixed as that ain't gonna happen. I would think the slide lock lever should cover most of that even and if so, then no harm, nofoul.:amflag:

At least you admitted that you "pried" on it!
Just think of this...............................you are the (probably) the first CM9 owner to have a 1911 type idiot mark. j/k

You would have been ok using the screwdriver if you had come in from the top instead of the bottom and pried rather than twisted. You should have read the manual and watched video on dis-assembly and reassembly. If that's the only mistake that you make in your life your way ahead of the rest of us.

I would call it a quick "identity" mark.I could not tellu the serialumber of any of my guns just off te top of my head but I cold identy every one of my guns in pile of the same guns, for I know somethings that I done to them that was just not normal. All my guns hav eosme tupe of fokked up markson them. Maybe u can pick umout but I sure can.

It has its first character marks on it. More to come.
