I'm thinking about getting a set of Williams Firesights for my PM9 (I have the standard sights on it), but I'd like to hear any opinions on them before I commit.
Anybody have any experience with them?, how are they in low light conditions and acquisition???

sure what those fire sights are, can u post us a photo. I have some dawson fiber optic adjustable sights on my G19 and I must say they are totally awesome, Any day light left, these sights pick it up, extremely accurate shooting sights to. Is the Williams fire sights something like the fiber optic sights??
oops, forgot Kahr is offering those sights, Non adjustable (elevation) but priced very reasonable.

Same thing different flavor. From what I have seen they seem ok, a little pricey, but then again I haven't really played with them yet.

I put a set on my Browning Buckmark, great sights but a bit fragile for a carry gun. I would think you could bump and break the fiber rather easy.

Great piece of info, then I'm not going to be able to put them on my PM9 since it is my main carry gun.
Thanks for the info jeepster09. :9:
I'll tell you one of the great things about this forum is the amount of information that you can find in here, thanks to the members this forum is like no other.:)
I checked out a PM9 with those on it. The sites were awseome. I was surprised at how bright they are. I compared them to Williams and believe they lit up much brighter.
In terms of them being overly fragile? I have never bumped or banged the sites on my guns so I did not think that would be an issue. (could they be any worse then a plastic blade sight on other pistols (e.g. CW's)? Additionally, folks have been using fiber optic sites in some of the most severest hunting conditions for quite some time and you do not here of them having issues with fragility. The PM9 I saw had all green optics. I think I would do a red up front with green in the back.
Thanks for bringing this up. I had forgotten about those sights. I think I will check them out again for my PM9. I have trijicon night sites on my PM9 and quite honestly, I do not like them. Probably my old and feeble eyes.......;-)

WMD. Have to agree with you. I think these sights will take more abuse thanone thinks. The fiber optic is not glass, it bends, flexs, so it should be able to take a few hits. I would hate to bang my xs big dot sights around and the only damage I have ever done to any sight was whenI tried to move it with a brass punch and screwed the looks up big time.
I sure love my dawson fiber optic adjustable sights on my G19. Most accurate set of sights I have ever had, not cheap either but they maching their entire sights. I bet a PM9 with fiber optic sights would be really cool looking..
The fiber optic sights certainly light up tremendous in daylight, better than anything I have ever used, being they depend on light in the fiber optic, nightime use would have a disadvantage. Plus's and minus's in everything...

My Para, the bobtail came with fiber optic sights, also came with 3 different little tubes or modules I think they call them I'm not terribly fond of them, have a difficult time picking them up. They are accurate given time. Old eyes me thinks. The other day I was looking at it and it actually appeared like my front sight had been knocked over and bent just a tad, like it was leaning left, I generally don't bang my guns around and found this shocking. But as this delicate issue had been talked about before I closely examined the tube only to find that it was intact and not harmed. My other Para's have XS's and this one will too soon as the marble jar is full enough.
Having changed the module a couple times to see if the other colors showed up better to my eyes I can say the little tube is pretty tough, a direct hit in just the right spot between the front and back where the tube is exposed and you'd break it for sure but it would have to be just the right hit. I even tried the sight while I had the modules out and the front sight is still useable on this particular front sight. Not sure if all are the same design but I assume they would be very similar. I'll take XS's anyday for my own use.

bawanna how do u like ur para's. I tried to love my carry 9 but it was just a lemon. There was no doubt though the LDA trigger in the Paras, are in a class all by themselves. never squeezedof a light double action trigger like that. The gun was super accurate, just never worked good, and the finish on my carry 9 starting to peel on the lower frame almost instantly. they tried 3 times to get it right but to no avail. I took a heh of a beating when I sold it to. I figured if a Para was good enough for todd Jarrett, it was good enough for ol jocko WRONG!!!

I love my Para's. I have 3. A blued full size double stack, the companion?, no it's CCW, officers model size and the full size single stack limited. Last two in stainless. Never any issues, very accurate. I love 1911's and carried them for years but I just wanted a little more insurance on that trigger for CCW. When your looking at the elephant its easy to mess up with all that adrenaline. I know guys will jump in, train train train. I do, I do, I do, and I still want a little more insurance. Will I carry a 1911, ya sure you betcha. One of the guys here got a TAC S I think it was, it was green, we called it the green machine. The green started coming off right off. I called para to see what was underneath. They said carbon steel and didn't really want to do anything. He kept it but its been put aside for his wifes use and guess what, he's carrying a PM9 now along with his duty glock. Go figure. I think the Para's are a little more delicate than a true 1911 but I like mine alot. My chief carries a Companion, commander size for duty, he carried a Kimber 1911 but scared me and others so bad we made him switch. Not really a gun guy, got stories to tell on that one.

Heres a quick one. El Jefe as I refer to my fearless leader was in his office (he was still brand new, we didn't hardly know each other)with the Kimber Commander size gun. It was actually taken from a robber who had 2 we got em both. Anyhow he had some questions about it and while he's asking me he's also asking a state patrol armorer the same question on the phone. He was career state patrol before he came here. All our answers matched, good thing so far.
He's impressing me with his gun safety prowess so he removes the magazine, and racks the slide, I plugged my ears as I always do, he then pointed it under his desk and pulled the trigger, I cringed big time as you can well imagine. He asked why I plugged my ears, I asked why he fired his empty gun under his desk. I was decocking the hammer! The state patrol guy apparently heard this talk over the phone and I inquired what his expert had to say. He to his credit told me he suggested getting another Beretta. I had to agree with him on that one. He's not dumb, just a new platform, different operation that he didn't understand. Now he does but the LDA Para works better for him and for the rest of us.

Yeah, I'd have gone nuts there. Bawanna you need to take that man to school and then to the range... Better yet send him to GunSite, or Thunder Ranch.

And with that this thread was hijacked:w00t:.
Well, I guess is ok since I learn so much from the Senior Members of this forum and the conversations are always interesting.
Hey Bawanna45cal Is good to hear that you love your Para's. I have them in my wish list (I have a very long wish list) I'm just staring to build my collection and I would love to own one.
Has anybody seen a Para carry 9? They look pretty small in the pictures.

No need to apologize, I rather enjoy the turns that threads take.
The sights also have a green version.

I hadn't looked at them in some time, I guess I may need to again. Might find something I like for an upcoming project(s) of mine. (my 1911 is going to be pretty when I get done. Though I need to hurry up, and get my projects done before I go back to school)

School is important. A GED is just as good as a high school diploma. I'm gonna go for one soon as I find the time. They say you can get a good job with more of that edumucation stuff. I'd like to fill out my own retirement paperwork and sign myself instead of using that pesky X all the time.
You gotta know I'm jerking your chain right?
Sorry for walking on your thread there cgo99. I do love my Paras, Jocko I think had a carry 9 and had troubles. I wouldn't get any of the funny colored Para's, the finish just doesnt seem durable. I've had no issues with my 3 or my chiefs except the operator. They sometimes have first round feed issues for awhile at first but nothing that doesn't work out over time.
My want list is also very very long, seems like for every one I acquire I add 3 more to the list. A sickness for sure.

That's one of them, drag my toys out play with them and take pictures, then clean em and put em back up. I just jewel polished the bearing surfaces on my Enfield, only to find that now if I open a pre-engaged bolt (won't let me say the correct term) that it opens and comes back hard enough to crack the stock. I almost cried, now I have to fix that, then while I have it apart take the side play out of the trigger and undercut the front sight. Then I move to the 1911, I will have a dovetail cut in the slide, fiberoptic sights of some kind put on, the mainspring housing I will make a flat one with the internal lanyard loop. Then I polish and smooth the feed ramp, and perhaps make a set of grips for it as well. Oh and I need to change the sear spring and take the excess movement out of the grip safety. While I'm there I'll put a titanium firing pin and extra heavy spring for that in as well. I move from there to two of the other pistols for a good feed ramp polishing and a fluff 'n' buff. Then I make a taller front sight for my Mauser, and then perhaps trim the one on my Nagant. (Need to see how it likes heavier ammo first though). So yes I have a few things to do.
