Well it took me three weeks but I finally took my pm9 (purchased used) to the range. I had been worried about being able to see daylight between the slide and frame but I saw a video on YouTube that showed this in other Kahrs. Obviously I can trust everything on the internet so I figured I was good to go.

I ended up shooting 82 rounds and the gun functioned flawlessly. Once I got used to the long take-up of the trigger I was shooting tight groups at 25 feet and in, and certainly acceptable ones at 30 feet. I even found the gun easy enough to control that rapid fire mag dumps all landed on target as well. My hand is a tad chewed up but I expected that.

I'll certainly feel comfortable making this my first carry weapon, the only question now is what gets here first: the carry permit or my crossbreed holster :-)

Nice to hear it was a good trip to the range. As for your hand - a search will find different methods of dealing with the grip. Either toughen up or look for something that softens the grip. I really like the Talon Grip (rubber type).

A hunk of free inner tube works perfectly. Good grip, the serrations still show through but knocks the edge off.

I took a wood burner to mine and basically melted off the offending roughness and stippled.

Excellent grip, not too rough, just right.

Glad you found us.

I must need to use some lotion or something. The PM9 never bothers my hand.

I think "toughen up" will be the way to go for me. Personally I like to use guns with the grips they came with, which is fairly simple since I only own 2 handguns. It's easier and keeps me from getting spoiled by a softer or more forgiving grip. And it wasn't SO bad, my hands were 100% fine by the time I arrived home.

Most of the time I would only put about 50 rounds through a handgun at the range (I'm more a "short trip" shooter) so I doubt it will be something I even notice in the future.

Glad everything went well at the range. I agree that the "toughen up method" is the way to go. GL
