Ok, so I finally got my new CM9 to the range. Let me start of by saying I was very close to selling this gun without even firing a round. I am used to Glocks. This gun's tolerances were so tight out of the box I thought there was no way I would ever like it. I really wanted to like it though as it is my choice for summer carry via pocket & IWB. Maybe even some OWB mixed in there.

So, like I was saying, about to just sell the gun. I began reading the new user section about how the gun needs prepped and is initially extremely tight. Again, I'm used to Glocks so not used to all the prep. So I decided to give the Kahr a fair shake. I followed the new gun break in and the lube chart. I checked all of my magazines (all were put together properly). So off to the range I go.

I put 75 rounds down range of various FMJ & SD rounds. Only had 2 problems and both were FTF. They both came from the same 8 round mag. I took the mag apart, put it back together and problem solved. I even shot nice tight groups after the first 20 or so, once I got used to the longer trigger pull.

I will have to say, I'm glad I gave the CM9 a chance. It has definitely won a spot for my summer carry. After just 75 rounds the gun has already began to loosen up a bit to where it was operating pretty smooth by the time I left the range. Thanks for all the info posted here on KahrTalk. Without it I would have passed on a sweet little gun without even giving it a chance. I'm loving my new CM9 & also loving KahrTalk!!!

Now you done it !! You'll have the have some bigger brother for the little kahr.

Glad to hear your CM9 has worked out well for you and the fact that the 8 round mag runs fine now. Thats what I carry as a back up mag.

than anything, thank you for trtusting the forum members in asking u to do certain prep things that maybe ur glock never needed it but we do feel kahrs sometimes do. U say 8 round mag, that is 2 rounds stickingout the bottom of the gun, IMO pa with it for range but I would not trust that mag. Ther eis just sumpin aobut extended magazines in the short grip well of the cm9 and PM9. IMO u boughty a defense gun that can ride in ur pocket with the flush fit mag, certainly not witht he 2 round exte3nded magazine, which I think is butt ugly stickin out like that but again my 21 cents on this.

You gave a nice report and u are seein what many membershere report to tha tthe gun will jut get smoother with more rounds to. welcome to a good forum:Amflag2:

Agreed & I should have known better. I carry a Glock 26 and I only carry the flush mags with it. I don't like the extended mags for 2 reasons: the flush mags conceal better and I actually get a much better grip on the flush mags. Anybody know where a guy can trade some extended mags for flush ones?!?!

heh they might be Ok for range use, but again it gives u a whole different grip, and the little kahrs is what it is. Train with it the way ur gonna carry it. U might email kahr tell them they ar enew and ask if trhey will exchange them for flush mags. They sometimes will do that

Good report.

Just wait until you get a few hundred rounds through it. It smooths out nicely and I can now hand rack the slide to chamber the first round easily now with mine.

The CM9 is a keeper.

Hard to understand all the negative feelings toward the 8 round mags. I must have 1000 rounds thru one 8 round mag that was used mainly as one of the range mag for both my cw9 and cm9 during breakin and always carried as a back up. It is never carried as a primary mag for CC use. It would be no different than having a glock 19 or 17 mag as a back up mag for a g26. The larger mag can be easier to handle for older slower fingers too compared to a shorty 6 shot mag for a quicker mag change if ever needed.

Or am I the only one that's found them trouble free. I feel no matter what mag you run its up to you to proof it just as well as any handgun.

Would you rather be shot with a pretty gun or a butt ugly gun? Just sayin.

The difference for me is I have used the Glok 17, 17 round magazine, in my Glock 26 many times without incident. The first time I shoot my CM9
the only FTF's I have come from the 8 round magazine. The 6 round magazine performed flawlessly. I personally do not want to risk my life on an unpredictable magazine.

don't compare different rand guns. glocks magaxine work dan near perfect, never an issue. Kahrws magazines seem to be more issueish expecially in the extended magazines. Not a fair comparison. I think single stack magazines are more critical than double stack mags. If u have good luck with kahr extended magazines, SUPER. Many here have not and that is a point that most of us at least try ti bring tothe attention of a user.

Very good point. Realizing this lead me to trust the advice here and give the Kahr a chance. Like I said, so glad I did. There is one thing my new Kahr does that no Glock can do and that is conceal in a much smaller space. I used my Kahr today as my CCW and it was awesome to be able to wear a normal sized shirt and stil have my gun completely concealed. It rides very comfortable in my strong-side pocket. I'm looking forward to trying out IWB. I'll bet that litte CM9 will disappear on my hip!

probably the biggest selling point of a Kashr IMO. CONCEALABILITY.

I have about 600 or so rounds thru my CW9 and she's a dream. I've had 3 FTF's and one was my wife's first few shots and two were my son's first few; all 3 from limp wristing. Once I pointed it out to them, there hasn't been an issue since.

Crimson Trace should arrive for my CW9 this week. After adding one to my wife's wheelgun, her groupings improved dramatically. Just another reason to put another 100 rounds down range next trip with the CW9... :D

JoeyG & jocko I'm not telling anyone to use the 8 round mags but just like with any mag I buy It gets tested just like the gun does. Does not matter if its a stock 6 rounder or 8 rounder. Maybe I don't apply the pressure to the mag some do? Maybe it the way it fits my gun but I don't trust any new part added to a handgun untill it is known to be reliable.

It should be know differnt if you add a 8 round mag to a 7 shot 1911 or a new mag to a AR15 or, or ,or. I should not have said only glock. . Could be any number of many makes and model out there. Its up the the owner to proof any change , heck some guys have problems with standard 6 round mags. Just don't take for granted that it can't be reliable. Only a very small percentage of owners of handgun even visit these forums. so any problems can be smaller than many perseve.

Just don't say it should not be done as kahr sell an extended 7 shot mag that causes so many issues for some too. Tell Kahr what you tell me.

It's all good. I'm glad your 8 rounder works for you. Mine does not and so it is relegated to range duty. I have complained to Kahr as many on here have. They are aware of the problem. Now whether or not they address the problem, who knows?! These little single stack 9 mm's can be finicky but I sure do like my CM9. Like I said before, Glock doesn't have a 9 mm small enough to fit in my pocket so I bought what I feel is the best in class the Kahr CM9. After my first range trip I was so happy & confident with my purchase I inserted it into my EDC rotation along with my Glock 26. By the way, I do have four 7 round magazines & they all performed flawless for me at the range. I do intend to carry one of them for my spare magazine. :D:D
