Well, since I really like the black cerakote on my CM9, I went ahead and had my CW9 done in Armor Black cerakote. Once again, kudos to Easton Firearms Refinishing! Gone and back in six days!

Just got it back today, so no rounds through it with the new finish yet. After having my CM9 done, had no problems. Continued to run like a top. Hope to get the CW9 to the range some time next week.

Nice job. What did it end up costing you?

$93.00. That included installing new Kahr rear sight, new Dawson front night sight (both of which I provided) and shipping.

That sounds like a $100 well spent.

Very nice ... I imagine I'm going to do something like that myself sooner or later.

Cool. I am thinking about having that done to one of my pistols.

Awesome. Thanks for the photos! I've been wanting to do that on my K9.

I like it too but have two questions. Can they do it to stainless and did you have to send the whole gun or just the slide?

I'm sure he just sent the slide in. And yes you can Cerekote stainless.

You can learn more here... and they have tons of example photos too.

There are Cerekote finishers across the country, so you may be able to find someone local, but ask to see examples of their work first because some guys are worse than others.

The slide on the CW9 is stainless. Just have to send the slide in.

How well does cerakote hold up to heavy use? Will it "chip" or simply wear down?

Don't have any first hand knowledge, but I've heard that if done right, it should wear just like bluing does. Someone correct me if I've heard wrong.

Wow that looks really good. I might have to do this to my CW40.

Website is not talking during the Holidays. What would the price be for a CW or P slide?

I think the price is $70 plus shipping ... but they also suggest that you go ahead and have night sights added as well since the sights will probably get broken in the process of trying to remove them. I would have probably already had it done to my CM9, except that I wasn't ready to spring for that extra cost ... especially since I already have a CT laser sight on it anyway.

Price is reasonalble but any breakage of my sights would be on them not doubling my cost for sights I didn't order.

That pricing is reasonable. As the front sight on "C" series Kahr pistols is held on by melted plastic pins, it's unreasonable to think that it can be removed and replaced without damage. Perhaps the cost of a new plastic sight ($6.60) is included in that $70 (which makes it a really reasonable price). If it isn't, I think the company would be justified in charging for the sight's replacement cost or having the owner supply the part. Further, I think the suggestion to upgrade to a night sight or other metal sight a good one.

Regards,
Greg

BTW, here's some good discussion on the durability of Cerakote:

With LE discount, the cost was $83.00 plus shipping. That included the installation of the front Dawson and rear Kahr sights. I believe the discount was 10%.
