View Full Version : Why do we need guns? Because of this type of crap.

A woman calls 911. Her ex-boyfriend is trying to break in the house, the Sheriff's dept., is only staffed part time and has no one available to send, So she is transferred to the State Police, and gets more run around. She was left on her own to deal with her crazy ex-boyfriend, who ended up breaking into the house and raping her.
This is a pretty strong argument on why we need guns.

Sounds like a woman who has made some very poor choices in life. Most people make their own bad luck. She said it wasn't the first time that he had broken in and assaulted her. Why wasn't he in prison? What's wrong with her buying a gun and protecting herself? When seconds count the police are only minutes away in most situations. Never feel sorry for a fool or rush to help them. That only makes you a fool.

Depending on whether I knew her or not, I may have helped. If I knew her, and knew for certain the ex-boyfriend was abusive, and she needed help, it would be difficult not to respond. If I didn't know her, that's too bad, too often the guy that gets involved in these type of things, ends up with the feuding couple turning on the good Samaritan. Police hate these types of situations from what I've heard. They come in and arrest some guy, and the woman goes ballistic on them for arresting her husband/boyfriend. I got involved once in one of these situations, when I was much younger, a neighbor boy was pounding on my door that his mom's ex-boyfriend was trying to break into the house and kill her and to come help, so I grabbed my shotgun, and went over and asked the guy what was going on, and he is drunk and cussing about the woman, and I told him the cops were on the way to settle the problem. The woman was yelling through the window to not let him in, that he was going to beat her or something. So I held him until the Sheriff got there, and they said next time leave the shotgun at home and grab a bat or something. Then they hauled the drunks butt off to jail. He never did show up around there again. But I guess I could have got in trouble for having the shotgun. No good deed goes unpunished. The neighbor though was very grateful for my butting in.

I happen to know a young girl in an abusive situation. I've tried to give her advice to basically end it now but she has gone back to him.

I'd still help her regardless. Yes, she makes bad choices just by being with him but there are other circumstances. Still, I'd help.

I'm sure if she had told the ex-bf that the cops would be there tomorrow that he would have left. Bad guys can be such cowards, right?

She should have pulled a Lorena Bobbitt on him...

No matter how big a fool I may be, that is not a free pass to exhibit violence upon my person.

Obviouskly, she provoked her attacker by using the 911 service.

She should have used the 1911 service.....

Well, there is some sort of truth to that...on the other hand no ones deserves to get raped and beat up just because they've made bad choices. Way to many "what if's" to hold court on her. It's just sad that something like this happened and that the cops couldn't have helped.
