View Full Version : First Model Kahr Pistol?
A question for those who know for sure...
Was there a first model pistol in the Kahr line?
If so, what was it?
Thanks.
K series chambered in 9mm.

The first Kahrs, the K9, were different from todays model in a few ways. This is an early model that shows the "slab side" frame, Vs. the sculpted frame of today. The material was carbon steel, Vs. stainless used now and the recoil spring was heavier.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't know much about Kahr pistols except for my PM9.
Long story short, I have a chance to pick one up from a guy that had it given to him recently. He's not a gun type so he didn't know much about it. He was told it was "the first" Kahr that came out. He doesn't even know the caliber.
I haven't seen it yet so that's where I'm at on this one.

Since he was given it, you might be able to get yourself and nice deal on it. It never hurts to own extra Kahrs ... I have two sitting in my driveway as I type.

I thought the E9 predated the K by a bit but I could be of the mark on that. I got nothing solid to back that.

I don't know what he has in mind. I'll have to wait until he actually gets it and then maybe we can talk...;)
I know his wife won't go for him having a gun.
Sometimes these deals just don't come thru, if you know what I mean.
Well, not wanting to seem too eager to get a good deal on a used Kahr, I casually asked about the pistol yesterday.
What I found was, the pistol isn't even in state (FL), it's in MD and the two parties involved don't have a clue as to how to transfer it legally between them selves!
When I explained what had to be done to transfer it, I could see the interest lost for the transaction. :(
Yeah, well, at least he wants to transfer it *out* of MD as opposed to *into* MD. If you really wanted to scare him off you could discuss that transfer process... :(

You could still possibly get a good deal on the gun. If the guy in MD was willing to give it away to his friend, maybe he's still be willing to sell it to you if you do all the legwork of finding an FFL, etc.

The E series came out after the K 9. E equals economy model.
The impression that I got was the relative in MD doesn't want to get involved with going to an FFL but wants the gun to go to the other relative in FL.
He thought he could just send it to him and be done with it.
To further complicate things, the gun came from a another relatives estate originally. I did not know this three days ago.
The guy in FL knows nothing about the gun and doesn't even know an FFL to go to and this is after I told him who to go to for the transfer but he balked at any transfer fee.
I think I give up on it. I've got enough 9mm pistols anyway. ;)
What about the chicken and the egg thing?
Don't know but I will eat either. ;)
