My cw9 slide is very hard to open to eject a shell from the chamber.I have other autos and don't have this problem,so its not me.Is there any cure for this?I love this gun.It fits my hand just right but I'm thinking of getting rid of it for this reason.

There are only two potential reasons for the difficulty you are experiencing on hand raking the slide.

The first is that many smallish, light weight pistols require heavier than normal recoil springs on their respective guide rods. Case in point the Kahr pistols. A lot of recoil energy is generated with these light weight pistols which will batter the slide and frame if a light weight spring is utilized.

The second reason could very well be your hand raking technique. If that is the case try keeping the pistol in your right hand (if right handed) close to your body, using your off hand over the top of the slide with your entire side of your thumb along the slide closest to your body. Use a push forward action with your right hand and simultaneously pull back with your left hand until its rearward motion stops, then let go with your left hand....sought of like a sling shot and allow the pistols spring tension load her up for you. This is the same method taught all how to clear jambs or on a speedy reload to get back into action quickly.
Give this a try...I teach this method to my woman students and those with compromised hand strength.

PS...I forgot to mention try and keep your fingers away from the ejection port, otherwise you can get your hand pinched if you cover the port area upon releasing the slide.

if the gun is relatively new, it might be tight. it could be the recoil springs have not taken their designed set either. the entire gu just get smoother with rounds through it. Most people soom adapt to it. Have no clue as to why u cannot do it either. Not sure i would get rid of the gun over that but again its ur gun.

We have seen maqny new owners who have a hard time hand racking a round in the chamber when thegun is new but we realy don't have tomuch comlaintsw aobut what ur having. U gotta rack that slide back very fast to eject a live round that is a given. If u try to so it basically semi fast, it will hang up. Other auto's might nothave asw stout of recoil springs either. Have no clue whatr guns ur talking about. u might have a bigger framed gun also. I can eject a live roundout of my G19 damn near with my teeth it is just that easy. Why?? ligher by far recoil springs, bigger frame, bigger ejection port area. Both guns in different classes.
We can only advise u here, the decision to peddle it is yours but I realy feel ur not giving the gun a chance either. again have o clue as to your body build either. U might just be weak handed in that area. Just sayin

Guraatee u more rounds will show a big difference..

Can I get an Amen for old JOCKO's response...????
I did forget to ask if the pistol was new or not...it does make a big difference after the gun is broken in. These Kahr have very tight tolerances. It is the nature of the beast due to their small size. Even after they are broken in a vigorous hand rack is in order to unload a live round due to the pistols small ejection port dimensions.

It isn't new.I can get it to go almost all he way back, but just not enough to eject the shell. It seems like it has only about 1/8' of an inch or less to ejec. The other guns Ihave are a glock 19 and a 1911 and they don't give me any trouble. The gun shoots great. The only time I have any trouble is when I have to eject the shell, like when I go to a gun show.Thats when I have the problem. The rest of the time I keep it fully loaded.

Do you have any trouble getting the slide all the way to the rear when the chamber is empty?

I have crippled hands, so racking slides is difficult for me, especially with my Kahr. What I have found helps is to put a rubber glove on the hand doing the racking. It provides so much better grip on the slide that I can do it successfully.

Even used, if a few hundred rounds haven't been shot the slide spring likely is NOT broken in enough yet to loosen the slide, as mentioned previously. Although I have no problems racking the slide both now and when new, my wife does and cannot rack the slide (yet).

After I performed the recommended initial cleaning and lube and prior to the first range trip, I sat in front of the TV and must have racked the slide about 500 times over multiple occasions until my left hand was sore. But it certainly loosened up a bit as well as strengthened my left hand grip!

If that is the case try keeping the pistol in your right hand (if right handed) close to your body, using your off hand over the top of the slide with your entire side of your thumb along the slide closest to your body.

Still don't know where the thumb is. I taught my daughter to rack the slide on her Glock 27 this way; Hold the gun in your right hand in a shooting position. Place your left hand over the slide with your thumb on the right (ejection port) side. Now pull back with your right hand while pushing forward with your right. Somehow this gives them a better grip on the slide.

Just a thought, but did the previous owner put a recoil buffer on the guide rod? I have seen this happen with 1911s. They work under recoil impetus but don't travel far enough to the rear for ease of ejection by hand.

I've done that and it doesn't feel good

This video may help. It shows how to properly rack the slide.
