The article begins: "This is the most ridiculous thing you will read today. Or this week. Or this month."

I agree. Check it out:

http://mikesright.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/school-says-deaf-boys-name-sign-looks-too-much-like-a-gun/

Summary: A 3 year old deaf kid was told to change his name because his name in sign language looked too much like a gun for school policy.

I saw that. Even more stupid than the kid getting into trouble for biting his pop tart into the shape of a gun.

I like where it says the school and the parents were working on a solution. Yeah right. They were probably working on pulling their kid out of that idiot school.

but u just cannot explain th stupidity these administrators have. WTF I am at a loss to even try to explain the logic behind this stuff. Damn when we were kinds we played cowboy and Injuns every damn day during the summer, and I mean we werein every neighbor back yard, in their garage hiding et, killi the Injuns and none of my buddies ever went postal. Its gonna get worse to, cause parents no longer have much say so in the school systems...

Is it just me or does this sound like a pure & simple case of discrimination against a child who's hearing impaired?

BTW, it's probably also a violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act. (http://www.ada.gov/)

If that school, its principal, the district superintendent and their assorted sycophants & necrophagic minions ...

... REALLY want to pursue this matter further, I have some sage advice for them; i.e., ...

... comply with the ADA or face Federal Charges (http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/drs/) ...

... and, ultimately, a 'correspondingly-stunning' civil-suit settlements!

As the Poster Child for the Americans with Disabilities act I endorse this message.

Are you referring to the chair or the fact that there is a problem communicating with the bosses in your office?

If it's the latter I would say they are the disabled. :amflag:

All that and then some. Don't walk, don't hear and I'm starting to be able to predict the weather with my hands and joints.
I'd like to get the nice little old ladies job going around in circles in the Hoveraround. I bet she gets the big bucks for them commercials.

give them the middle finger and tell them that is his only choice for a replacement sign

Exactly!

My sister-in-law is deaf and a very outspoken advocate about situations like this... was fully intending to send her the link until I got to the bottom and saw the link for the update.

No, it was a true story. It has just apparently been resolved. But it never should have happened in the first place.

Nothing really "happened". Other than media and "the country is going to hell" hysterics getting off on a single numb nuts teacher's stupidity.

I think if I were the kids father I would have change his name to F. Hugh. Then his sign would be a raised middle finger. :)
