... FWIW, the line where someone allowed the lady to go ahead ...

... was THE LOTTERY line in FLORIDA with the $590 MILLION WINNING TICKET (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/05/gloria-mackenzie-powerball-lottery-winner-claims-may-jackpot_n_3390875.html)!

FYI, I understand that the lady, Mrs. Gloria Mackenzie, admitted she was 'grateful for this blessing',

... and that, "another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them ...

BTW, Mrs. Mackenzie, THE SOLE WINNER, elected to receive one payment of $309 MILLION ...

... which she said she'll split with her son! ... http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b297/GHGecko/ANI_GIFs/TINYs/Smiley_Tiny_Celebrating.gif

er, there was no mention of her 'advancing nary a farthing' to the kind soul who let her go ahead in line! ...

It was nice what he did and it would be nice if she was to reciprocate. The hard part would finding out who it was exactly. But in reality she doesn't owe him ****...

That's correct, because the way those computerized random number generators work, in the few seconds time it took for him to allow her to go ahead in line the computer probably went through thousands of other numbers.

She & her son better go "underground", because the leeches will be all over them 24/7.

The lump sum payment is $370,000,000, then the IRS automatically takes out 28% (so their big shots can have a multi-million dollar meeting in Hawaii at a 5 star luxury resort with fine booze & high priced hookers). Then another 12% or so will be due April 15th.

She & her son will net somewhere around $225,000,000 after the government bloodsuckers get theirs.

I hope she lives to be 100 so she can enjoy what that kind of wealth will do for good people.

I think the 370 is already after all that government robbery. Started out at 590?

And to think that I helped that old lady to cross the street to get to the convenient store. Hope she remembers me in her will. :)

No. That is the lump sum payout for the cash option. After federal taxes, she got $278 million dollars.

They tell you $590 million and put $370 in an annuity that pays out $590 over the next 20 years...or you take the $370 and put it in your own funds and possibly earn more....if you stay disciplined. Many say that the average lottery winner goes crazy and blows it all in the first three years...they usually end up in debt when it is all said and done

I could make it to the river crossing on far less than 200 million and have a fine time doing it.

No annuity needed, just straight loot from now one. I can't even comprehend that much money all in one place.

At least Florida doesn't have a state income tax otherwise her tax bite would have been even larger. Not that she wouldn't still have a boatload of money - I just find it ironic that the states keep a good chunk of the ticket money first before they dole out the awards, then turn around and tax the awards to boot!

278 Million at even just 1% interest is 232,000 per month. Somehow I'd figure out how to stretch that out so that I didn't die penniless.

Now, just how the hell is she going to be able live on that kind of money?

There is no proof that the person letting her cut in line would have won, or drawn the same numbers, that is a flawed paradigm thinking that if they would not have let her cut, they would have won. Even I could have won if I bought a ticket with her numbers,,,

Like I tell my wife, I could retire on that. I tell her that no matter what the total as it's true. Everything over "enough" is for the kids and before Obama is through he'll be taxing trust funds as inheritance at the 60% he's doing now.

Not me, RevRay. I came into this world with nothing and plan to leave it the same way. I don't want my heirs arguing over my vast fortune. :)
