View Full Version : Blunt Nose PM9?
Did the change in the slide design from the older "blunt nose" to the "tapered version" affect both the SS/naked slide and the black finish slides?
It seems like it would but...
Thanks.

what is the difference in a blunt nose and a taper slide? Do you have any pix of the blunt nose? I have a new pm9 so assume it is the newer tapered slide.

Oddly enough, Kahr still shows the blunt version in the pictures of the PM9 and PM40 currently on their website. http://www.kahr.com/Pistols/Kahr-PM40.asp

And here is a picture of the current beveled version.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I have the beveled slide. I like the blunt slide better but I still like my pm9. Thanks again, great site and very helpful members!

You are very welcome! Thanks for being part of the community here.
Oh, and . . . since yours is the current version, it is worth noting that it is now, and should continue to be, easy to get replacement recoil assemblies from Kahr because you have a "current design" product. Recoil assemblies are a wear item. So, it is nice to have spares available.
However, the blunt design is nice looking and you can purchase bare replacement springs for that version directly from Wolff Gunsprings (http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?page=items&cID=1&mID=29#185) (http://www.gunsprings.com/), rather than paying for the entire cartridge from Kahr. It is probably a toss up. But, I feel more comfortable owning a current design from the standpoint of future parts support.
Admittedly, that is just me. Probably, a few hundred people will now chime in about how great it is to own a version you can no longer buy new. Oh well. We humans are funny animals. ;)

toaddto tucson cmment, if u have the never beveledslide version, u cannow go to the wolffs gunsprings site and order just the outter recoil springs in factory poundage and then 20.53poundage if u so desire.U order it under tghe heading of PM9 kahr. Kahr has now standardized the b eveled slide and the blunt ose outter spring tobe the same, so u can savesomenice bucks buy ordering from wolffs. for from kahr u must order the entere assembly which is not needed..

Thanks, the recoil spring info will come in handy when I order new springs.
Also kahr can convert any blunt nose to accept all the newer parts for like 20 bucks but i think you have to buy a new barrel since the old one will no longer fit after they convert it. Im not sure what they actually do though, i wish i had both to see the differences and how they convert them. The only difference might be the barrel im not really sure.
