I just got a PM from MW. He reports that he went into the hospital May 30 and ended up having a triple by-pass, pretty sick.
The bad news is his wife and daughter are limiting his play time here at Kahrtalk but said he will check in from time to time. Mostly read. I guess his head / hand coordination make his typing skills somewhat south of Jocko's usual post.

The good news is that he is now discharged and will have the usual lengthy recovery at home while he heals up and gets well.

I remember the lethargic head / hand coordination from years ago when I had a bump removed from the brain. Very little concentration. Some say I never got it back:confused:

I suggested to him that having a fine pistol nearby to fondle while he's laying around is good medicine.

Hope he's up to chatting with us again soon.

I of course offered to do whatever any of us can do to help him if needed.

Keep him in your thoughts.

I have that same head/hand eye coordination when I shoot alot. things just don't come together. Maybe I need some surgery. Anything to help the kahr members underestand ol jocko a tad better

MW is a tuffy, he will get through this, nicew to have the forum thinkin about him to. I remember when I had that ice cream accident, the forum thought about me, althought for less than one day but to me it was the thought that counted.

I had a double by-pass in August. Not fun at all. Takes awhile to get the wind back in your sails. But once you do, you feel much better. One of the worst parts was waking up from the surgery, and having this mask on my face with a tube running down my throat, I tried to take it off and was struggling with them, and they knocked me back out, then next time I came too, they were telling me to cough as they pulled the mask off. Coughing after they've just cut your sternum in half is the last thing you want to do, but I managed a little bit and they got the damned thing off me. Then they let my pain meds run out one night, and that was a very bad night. I raised hell with the Dr. in the morning and they made sure that didn't happen again. They don't let you lay around either afterwards, they get you sitting up, and walking as soon as they can, it's a bear with all those tubes running and wires hooked up to you, to walk. I went in on Wednesday or Thursday, and was out of there Monday at noon. Sunday night they pulled the drainage tube out that went from my heart, down to a hole in my stomach, that was very weird, feeling that tube coming out of me. Then I had to go stay with someone for a week or so, until the Dr. OK'd me to go home, since I live by myself. Good Luck MW, you'll feel much better in a couple months.

So...he's mentally still half way out of it, has significant coordination issues, and your recommendation is they give him a handgun to fondle and play with. Huh!

Get well MW!!

Best wishes, MW. :) Just think of that triple bypass as a triple turbo for your heart, so you'll be feeling great in a little while! ;)

That did sound kind of bad huh?

I had a tumor took out of my brain many years ago, and the guys at work bought me a Para double stack LDA, this is when they first came out.
That thing never left my side for like 6 months I was in zombieville. I spent the day in a lounge chair in the living room with a little table beside me with it and it's box and the 4 mags they got for it, then had it on the night stand at night. Never did have any bullets around until I watched the video and had to find out if I had the hi cap mags or 10 rounders. The guy at the gun shop who I knew well thru in all hi cap mags, what a nice guy.

It was a year before I finally got to shoot it but I sure held it alot and often while I was working out of my lethargy.

Had very little concentration for a long long time. Use to be a ravenous reader, after that I couldn't read a book, magazine article was about all I could manage. Now I've finally worked out of it and back into books.

I'm surprised that someone didn't have you committed years ago, Jocko. Heal quickly Surv. We miss your wit and wisdom.

Thanks to all regarding a speedy recovery.

One of the weird things is that as soon as I started to type this, the house ogre (wife) walked in and wanted to know what I was doing! She said I could finish this one and no more, and only a few lines.

They told me that after I got back to the ICU, I stood up from the bed and demanded to be be released, saying that I had to be free or something. I do not remember this but evidently it made a big impression on everyone cause the next thing I remember is, I don't know.

I actually do not feel too bad outside of having to sleep sitting up in my recliner to keep from rolling over onto my stomach/chest. Last thing I want is to break loose the wires holding my sternum together.

Well got to go as SWMBO is looming! Will write more later.

(thank you spell check for making this legible)
