My new CM40 actually runs worse after the break-in period. It used to stovepipe during the period but after 300 rounds the slide will occasionally stick all the way back and the slide never locks back after the last round. Has anyone else had this problem? I am starting to think I should have went with a revolver.:(

Thanks.

Not knowing if you are a 'new' shooter or not...couple of things to suggest, but if you have already thought of these and are confident you are not doing either of these, please disregard.

One, firm grip. Are you sure you are not holding the gun too loosely or limp wristing. This can/will definitely cause stove pipes or failure to feed properly. Grab it like you mean it.

Two, riding the slide. A Kahr is a pretty small pistol. It's not uncommon to find that you are riding the slide w/ your left thumb. Very little pressure or touch is needed to prevent that mechanism from working as it should on the last round. I did this A LOT with my first Kahr.

Good luck.

Hey Mr. Papadork!

You need to read parts of this (admittedly, very long) thread. http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1612

Pay particular attention to message number 5 in the thread, where you will see this image.

In my experience with the three Kahrs I have owned since new, this little spring goes through a lot of changes during break in. Most are good because they allow you to break down the pistol more easily. But, the spring can become too loose or get out of place very easily. It can also get bent out of shape very easily just by getting caught on a rag during cleaning.

Been there and done that myself, unfortunately. But, reading and following the advice from Greg and a few others that is contained in this thread will get you back to smiling pretty quickly and without too much effort.

In the meantime . . . Welcome to the forum! :D

Slide sticking to the rear indicates a trip back to Kahr is required.
Mine runs perfectly, but shoots low.
I will know more about that this week when I get in my laser bore sighter. I will know if I am flinching or the sights do not correspond to the bore.

Here's a link to a video about adjusting that slide stop spring. That could be your issue. Hope you find it helpful. Man that cm40 is a small and light pistol for such a stout round. I have a lot of respect for those who shoot it. With that said, I think keeping a strong grip would be essential. Make sure you have that dialed in before you dig too deeply into problems with the gun. I had to seriously re-think my grip when I got my k40 -- and it's bigger and heavier. Good luck. Hope you get enough help to avoid a trip back to Kahr. But if not I'm sure they will take care of you.

That YouTube link isn't working.

Link works for me.

Fyi, if you're using tapatalk, an update today fixed the problem with links not opening from the last update.

Fyi 2, I'm using the tapatalk community reader beta, not the regular tapatalk.

I pasted the first one from my tablet... this one should work if you are using a pc/laptop. Best of luck getting everything sorted out.
