My permit is expiring next month and I just received a letter from the sheriffs office telling me for renewal I have to make an appointment to come in and have a meeting with them and I need to bring my birth certificate now. Seems a little much considering it's a renewal, not a new permit. I dream of living in Alaska or Texas. Hate living in a scumbag blue state. The illegals have more rights in my state than I do.

Might be a new requirement passed by your legislators since you got the permit.

You must comply! Resistance is futile! You will be assimilated!

What gripes me is the in OK the renewal cost is virtually the same as the original cost to get the permit. That is crap.

CJ, you're a victim of the Real Id act no doubt. I can no longer renew my PA permit by mail because of that.

Hoops. I hate hoops. I hate having to jump through hoops to exercise a constitutional right.

I wish we did have to provide proof to vote.

Here in OR. my county sheriff's office doesn't notify you of ccw expiration. They claim they can't afford it. If you miss you have to go through a new application process. Other counties do notify. OR.ccw costs us $50.00 ea. for 4 yrs
We were recently notified that our Utah permits were expiring. We sent in new pics and $15.00 ea. for renewal fees. We got our renewed permits in less than 3 weeks, good for 5 yrs.

Washington doesn't notify either. They give a little grace period, don't remember exactly how much, but if you forget too long then you have to start over.

In Jawja you got to start over every time.

You're right and in Georgia the cost doubled for the same permit...Guess the state saw an easy way to rip off the citizens since CCW became more popular....

Yeah, Utah is a nice state. A lot of states are getting more strict on gun laws and Utah is getting more lenient.

I don't know about that ! 5 yrs. ago our permits cost us $10.00 each now it's $15.00. What's up with that ? :hurt: AND ! we also had to pay for our own renewal pics:behindsofa:

Texas Governor just signed a bill that dumps CHL permit renewal classes. We now just have to fill out the renewal paperwork & send it in with the fee.

Sure hate having to get a permit & pay a fee to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights.

Seems that the anti-poll tax crowd made louder noises than us gun owners.

Also Texas reduced the initial CHL class time by half (4 or 6 hours plus range time now).

Baby steps.

That all be good. I'm in favor of range time for new permit holders without evidence of firearms competency of some sort. Mil/LE/even a hunting license would do.

Well, got it renewed today. Was pretty painless, paid my 50 and filled out another form and showed my birth certificate. They took my pic and I was out the door with the new permit in just a few mins. What really bugs me is on the form there is a section for legal aliens to fill out. What kind of "proof" would they need to get a conceal carry permit? I guess just like with the illegal aliens my state loves to feed, house, educate and until a few years ago, gave drivers licenses to, just like candy, we might as well arm them too, since they may carry illegally, we must legalize it. After we voted to end it, they then forced us 2nd class REAL citizens to show birth certificate, and in the case of my wife, our marriage license. And while we have to show it, the worthless governor of our state and his dbagging cronies are working on providing licenses to illegals again. And I'm sure it would be racist to expect them to PROVE who they are before giving it to them.

Don't classify legal aliens with the illegals. That just be totally wrong and sexist.

Legal aliens be of the respectable, taxpaying, law abiding class. Just not citizens. They deserve to be treated with respect.

Think Brit/Aussie/Canadian/Native American.

I gotta renew my drivers license next week. Hope I can pass the eye test. Thank God that I didn't have to pass an eye test for my CC permit. I may be walkin, but I'll still be shootin'. :)

Sorry, here in oregon, we have been so flooded with illegals it tends to skew your view on immigration immensely. I have no prob with any legals you listed. Except Native Americans are Americans, not immigrants. But legal or not, I don't want them carrying guns. Because if they can, immigrants from the nations that hate Americans, like all the muslims nobama wants to make LEGAL immigrants may then be carrying legal guns with their hatred/violent streaks.

I know that, of course. It was a poke.

I deal with temp resident Aussies and Brits quite often. I've always been welcome in their countries and consider them most welcome in mine. I get a bit touchy when someone tries to lump them in with the folk that last worked on my roof.

I can attest that a very large number don't stop in Oregon and keep on headed up here to Washington. In my little town they continue to tell me low percentage but my visual capabilities tell me they are lying or the numbers are incorrect.

What really chaffs my backside is constant demands. Numerous times the groups have insisted that we have 2 man patrol cars with at least one hispanic per car so they can talk to somebody. That don't fly with me.

Many of our officers have learned spanish which of course drives the bad guys crazy since they can understand them talking to each other.

I also hate that the city has to pay for court interpreters usually hispanics as well of course, it goes on and on. Most property and physical crimes are amongst themselves too, think Chicago, all the gangs which are increasing in number all the time are hispanic oriented too.

I can't of course paint them with my broad brush as we have a couple (sisters) who are among my violets and they are the least harsh and do good work.

Young spanish speakers in classroom with non spanish speaking teachers, how is that suppose to work? I spent a lot of time in the schools after my injury and non working time, it's a tough deal all the way around.

I just saw a story recently stating about all the VERY LIMITED jobs created are all going to illegals. I'm so glad all these democRATS with the help of scumbag rino R's like rubio and mccain, are representing us Americans IN OUR OWN COUNTRY so well. I have an unemployed friend, who's been out of work for 2 years, out of the blue start bitching about Bush. I've had enough with the ignorant people in my life who are helping destroy this country with their KNOW NOTHING voting habits. I asked her what exactly Bush did that she would still be bitching about him when this scumbag in office has made things 1000 times worse since taking office. She had no answer, at which I told her she was the typical democRAT. None of them know anything. I've decided at this point, people that stupid aren't worth being friends with.
