Instead of "googling" things, and using Google, and having your browsing records ending up in a Federal Database, I suggest you try Startpage.com for searching or browsing for items that you don't want big brother to know about. Startpage is a search engine, much like Google, that is based in the Netherlands, and so far has refused to provide any information to any governments. It's outside the USA's jurisdiction, so there is no way the US can force them to give up their info. I was reading about it somewhere, and the article said it was a great way to cover your tracks, if you don't want to have history of you visiting the site in question.

Just go to Startpage.com, and enter your search words, and hit enter, it works just like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask, or whatever search engine you use. I guess if you're looking up, say how to build and AR-15, then you might not want that search showing up in the DHS Database.

Just a thought for those that don't like big brother knowing ALL the sites they visit.

I set that up the other day on my computer. I wish I could do it easier on my phone, but it's doable.

I will say when you access ANY webpage, you're going through your ISP, which is in America, and can and will give up your info if requested. I believe its how the majority of people caught for music and movie piracy have been nabbed, their ISP ratted them out.

Yeah, all this does is hide your search phrase. Keeps you from showing up on google's or whoever's records. And whatever site you go to, is on there records and not google's. But if they want to get your records from your internet provider it will still have your history on it. I don't think they bother with that unless they are investigating someone pretty well.

er, I believe that this is reason behind the growing popularity of PROXY SERVERS (http://tinyurl.com/crsdzr)!

I really don't worry about things like that. I don't think that anyone is really all that interested in my mundane existence.

Loved that book....and the others of the "trilogy". Had nothing to do with an interest in computer security, though. More to do with a lifelong interest in perverted, independent, hot young women.

That all depends on who us is, or is that is, is? So many questions, so little time.
