Ok, went to Red's in Pflugerville (north of Austin) this morning - took the new Ruger SR45 in to bust it's cherry, and also the CW45 just for a little paper punching practice & to break in the two extra 6 round factory mags I acquired recently.

The SR45 was flawless in all 8 magazine loads downrange....except for the fact that at the end of firing all 10 rounds out of each one, the slide never locked back. WTF? This is a first for any of my Rugers. Was using the two supplied factory Ruger mags.

Otherwise the pistol ran smoothly, went bang every time, and the UMC FMJ lead went where it was directed. I shall confabulate with my fellow SR45 owners on the Ruger board to ascertain what the problem might be.

The little Kahr CW45 ran like a greased pig through a Texas A&M dormitory. The grip "checkering" started to chew up the hide between my thumb & forefinger, so had to put on the new shootin' glove which I bought just for that purpose (use it when shooting the feisty little Ruger LCP too). I didn't like the bike tire slip-on and had discarded that last year.

The big surprise was the extended 7 round factory magazine that had always failed to feed the second round during other range sessions. It ran perfect all 4 times it was used! Never had noticed any burrs or oddities that had to be smoothed down...it just up & decided to work properly by itself?

Love that little thing.

Could be that the magazine follower isn't coming into contact with the slide stop. A little bending with a pair of needle nosed pliers might be in order.

Always good to see another Ruger fan. I have the LCP and P95. Both gr8 guns. Sounds like the range trip was a success. Congrats!

Always fun to bust some paper up! Glad you had a good time, sorry about your issues. I hate when crap like that happens.

I took my CW45 to the range today as well, finished up the 300rd "break=in" session. It fed with all the 1911 mags, locked the slide back with the factory 6rd, but the springs finally took their "set" and you could feel the difference slingshotting the slide, AND the empties landed much closer to where I was standing instead of 15' behind like they did the first 200rds.

Funny thing, and should have pic'd it, the Chip McCormick Shooting Star mag follower got stood straight up and ended up behind the extractor at the end of an 8rd string of fire. I thought wtf? Never seen that before in any .45 I ever owned. Anyway, that is just an extra mag I used for this range session.

All good now, cleaned it, frog lubed it, ready to go..

Well Doug, it turned out good.

While I was at the range, a fellow was instructing a young lady how to handle & shoot his Glock .40.

First time she pulled the trigger...it went FULL AUTO! Five rounds (all he had loaded in the mag) went BRRRRAAAAAAPP!

Could be that it's just tight. I'd lube it up well and shoot it like you stole it. Gads, did I say that out loud??!!
