In case anyone was wondering how they compare in size, here are some pics. They're surprisingly close. Main difference is the 1911 beavertail juts out and the 1911 grips are fatter. And its grip is longer. The weight difference doesn't feel like much.

I love the K9's smooth simplicity, but I shoot the 1911 more accurately.

With some concentrated practice I'm pretty satisfied with my combat accuracy with the K9. It could be better, but I think it'll do for its intended purpose. Justin's masterpiece still rules, in my book.

Not that I don't love my 1911s, they're just a little harder to carry.

actully laying that K9 next to that handsome1911`, shows just how nice the K9 really is for looks. Now think of thatK9 as allblackversion and the 1911 has some real competition. Just sayin

They do make a sexy couple.

I'm thinking of a stainless T45 with wood grips. But I seem to be the only one.

As a gun crank who collaborated with Irving Stone (BarSto) when the first Colt prototype Officer's ACP barrels were out...and who had his own OACP out before Colt, and as one who thoroughly debunked the Colt OACP ad as cinnamon dust and plastic....

....LOSE THAT WHALE TAIL!!!! On the Officers.

Can't stand 'em. Consider this: What ain't there can't bite ya!

You mean the "tactical hammer & b-tail? Can I fit a GI on this? The GI is actually more comfortable to me in all aspects.

A "GI" style grip safety will work if you modify it to mimic Colt's OACP/1991 Compact grip safety (probably easier to fit an OACP/Compact part). Here are a couple of photos comparing a Colt 1991 Compact grip safety to a generic GI (I believe this one is a Springfield Armory) style.

I'm encouraged to try the GI tail now. I've been trying to get a smooth rounded trigger for the last month now, but the company sent the wrong part twice and the right one got lost in the mail somehow. The factory trigger feels like it has chuncks of broken glass embedded in it.

And the arched MSH hasn't gone well. I really didn't want to take metal off the grip safety, but that's the only way an arched MSH will fit.

At least I got the grip panels feeling like I wanted. Sanded the cheese grater (Kahr inspired?) wood panels and clearcoated them.

I recently traded a G19 for a Rock Island Armory Officer's 1911 in 9mm. Wanted to stay with the 9mm and was not happy with the accuracy of the Glock (most likely just my ability with it).

I still carry my Kahr almost exclusively, but I have carried the 1911 a few times and I am a better shot with the 1911 (single action vs double action, single action usually wins).

I agree with the OP, size wise they are almost identical, with smaller going to the Kahr by just a bit. But I find the Kahr more "comforting" to carry - it has never had any malfunctions where the 1911 has had feed problems but I believe it has since been fixed, and I feel more comfortable not having a safety - go figure.

My "competition" gun (and I use that term loosely) is the 1911, my carry gun is the Kahr K9.
