After 400+ rounds did a complete disassembly of the slide on my CM40.
The striker channel had a mess of metal chips. Flushed it with Brakleen and re assembled with no lube:amflag:

I just spray brake cleaner in the cleanout hole after every range session. No need to completely disassemble for this procedure.

Putting the Wolfe reduced striker spring in is IMO a justified need. :)
It's reliable and the trigger improves even more.

I don't think it hurts to at least once early on strip the slide and clean it out. Some have reported left over machine debri that may or may not flush out with the brake cleaner.
I took my PM 45 apart before shooting just to see and it was pristine, lightly oiled. Don't recall ever taking the other two apart ever, and I haven't flushed the channel either. Probably should next range visit.

I use DuPont Teflon Dry Lube on the striker and channels in my Glocks, XDm, M&P, and now my Khar pistols. It drys REALLY dry and does not leave a residue that attracts dirt etc.
I discovered it while running NRA qualification programs with 22 semi auto pistols. Students would start having problems a couple weeks into the program. Clean and degrease a 22 semi auto, spray with the dry lube, and they would run for the rest of the season without jamming or feeding problems. Cleaning and degreasing the parts before spraying the dry lube has been the key to the success for me.
You can buy the Remington brand for the big bucks for a little can, or get the same thing in the DuPont brand at Lowe's for much cheaper and it comes in a bigger can.
Thought I would throw that out there in case someone would like to try it.

I do a complete slide detail clean on every new (or used) pistol I get, and every 1500 rounds after. I never spray anything into the striker channel unless the slide is completely stripped. This is me, and it helps me sleep at night, that and liquor. :)

I'm with Bawanna on the slide detail strip "at least once"... and the Wolff 5-lb striker spring. Buy a 3 or 10-pack for all present and future Kahrs.

I'm with ya, only after disassembly, cleaning and degreasing do I use the dry lube. I will have to look into those springs wyntrout. Do you get them from Wolfe?

I agree with parabellum, strip it down. Only takes a few minutes. Don't spray into the clean out hole. Chips have nowhere to go

I never spray anything that contains lubricant into the striker channel. I clean the striker channel with denatured alcohol, which evaporates very quickly. I use the same approach with glock or any other firearm. Keep oil away from the striker channel.
