I finally got to the range with my new P380, nite sites, Calif edition this week. I ran 150 rounds of Herters FMJ and 20 rounds of Federal Prem defense, low recoil through it. I had about 6 FTF in all with the FMJ, mostly the first 100 rounds, then tried the JHP, what I've noticed if I slingshot the first round into the chamber with only 1 or 2 rounds in the mag, it loads up the first round fine. If I try it with a fully loaded mag, it jams. It was repeatable, other than that, once the JHP was loaded, rapid fire etc, no jams. I was pleased for a first time at the range as I was with my PM9. Stripped and cleaned and cycled the slide several hundred times before shooting etc. Any ideas on the fully loaded mag issue? BTW, it took more than a month of waiting to shoot it due to emergency surgery and I"m new to shooting, only just over a year so go easy and don't make me a :target: , LOL

It is a little too early to expect that pistol to sling shot with a full magazine.

It will sling with a full mag with FMJ, just not JHP. In fact, racking the slide normally with a full mag is okay with FMJ but won't chamber a JHP that way either. I"m gonna get the round count up to about 300 and then maybe do the Mag mod if things don't work there way out. I actually feel confident to carry it cuz once the first round is chambered, it runs like a champ and don't anticipate getting into a situation that I'll need to have more than 7 rds. I'm not a huge fan of 308 for SD, I"d actually prefer to carry my 3 inch Kimber 45, next my PM9 but in summer clothing the PM9 is a little big depending on what I"m wearing. The slight difference between the PM9 to the P380 is huge. I love the gun's feel etc. I can see in my future a PM45 to go along with the other 2,,,,,,hmmm, maybe a PM40 as well. This is an addiction.:D

sounds like you are getting there. Maybe you should stick with the fmj until things loosen up a little. And I recommend racking the first round with the lever like the manual says. Once things are consistently flawless, you can go back to the jhp's as well as trying other ammo. The follower mod is a good thing. but I wouldn't worry about slingshotting until she's well broken in.

Thanks for the advise guys. Since I"m home recovering for at least another 2 weeks I can't think of a better way to pass time than going to the range and running her some more. I got lucky and found some ammo at Walmart, UMC and Herters select from Cabela's so I have another 400 rounds on hand.
