Here it is at 1:45 in the morning again and I am awake and decided to get on my new favorite forum for awhile. I am a new Kahr owner as of 2 weeks ago and have decided this is the best forum on the internet. Everyone here seems to be much friendlier and more mature than the other forums I frequent.

I bought a new PM 40 for my birthday (49 years) to compliment my Glock 27 and am absolutely thrilled with it, and have been carrying it everyday since I bought it. It has spoiled me completely, so light and thin and convenient, there will never be an excuse to go unarmed any longer.

Some random thoughts from an insomniac:

I have 2 High Noon Split Decision tuckable iwb holsters and love them also.
I always tuck my shirt in because a. it is what I have always done since I was a kid and just looks neater in my opinion. b. I like the fact that I do not always have to worry about my shirt coming up and exposing my weapon. c. most people looking for concealed weapon carriers first look at people with their shirts untucked as a sign of concealment. d. I can still draw aim and fire in just over 2 seconds with a tucked shirt as opposed to just under 2 seconds with an untucked shirt, which to me is an acceptable time.

I have 2 Galco pocket protector holsters for when front pocket carry is an option although I have recently had second thoughts about this method. I like the convience and can draw and fire in about the same time as iwb carry but when I am sitting down across from my wife or anyone else in a restaurant for instance I have noticed the weapon is pointing straight at them. I know Kahr's are inherently safe weapons but this goes against everything I have been taught since I was a little boy learning gun safety.

I also have a Glock 27 which I love and can shoot a little better than the Kahr. This may be because of several reasons. a. the sight radius is slightly longer, b. the trigger pull is different c. I am just more used to it. d. I like the 3 dot sight picture better than the bar and dot system.

I really like the smooth face of the trigger on my new Kahr, and wish my Glock had one like it.

My Glock plastic recoil spring assembly failed with about 200 rounds through it last year ( the spring slipped over the lip of the guide rod) and jammed the weapon. Since then I have used a Wolf uncaptured all steel guide rod system and highly recommend replacing them in all Glocks. Other than that my Glock has lived up to it's legendary reliability reputation. It is a pretty awesome weapon in a very compact package, and I suppose I will start carrying it again soon.

My thoughts on gun-free zones. I sometimes ignore the posted ( no concealed weapons allowed) signs misguided people post on their building entrances. Many of the places that do this are in the most likely places where you will need to protect yourself ironically, like hospital parking lots, car auctions in the bad part of town (I am a car dealer), mall parking lots, etc. This practice all but ensures only predators will have weapons there and is one of the places I would go to rob someone if I were a criminal. The only way someone will ever discover my weapon is if they frisk me or I have to walk through a metal detector. I also understand if they ever discover my weapon all they are allowed to do is ask me to leave and if I refuse prosecute me for trespassing. I understand they have a right to control their business as they see fit, but I also have a right to protect myself from predators at all times.

I am afraid if too many people start open carrying , they may ruin everyone's right to carry (concealed or open). I think right now carrying a weapon is pretty well off the average persons radar, but if too many people give the radical leftwing crazies in the news media too much ammunition the current administration may turn its attention onto gun control and who knows what will happen then. Don't get me wrong, I am for gun owner rights (all rights, even open carry, ) but things just seem to be going too well for us right now and I do not want to see us lose any ground.

I am also not sure why anyone would want to open carry when it is so easy to ccw. You lose the element of surprise against a predator when you open carry.

I hope these ramblings do not sound totally crazy when I re-read them when I am fully awake tomorrow. They are just some thoughts rattling around in my head in the middle of the night.

Stay safe, stay vigilant, stay armed.

This post reminds me of those "stream of consciousness" writing assignments back in college.
:)

What time did you eventually get to sleep?

I think that's the first negative thing I've ever heard about Glock. Well...rationally negative anyway. There are always the "I hate it because you like it" people.

I enjoyed reading your post olympic.....we think alike ;)
Even to the point I've been considering getting a Glock 27 to compliment my Kahr CW9. After recently purchasing my first Glock, a 23. I'm thrilled with it and feel like I need another...

The Glock is a good piece, but I just never warmed up to them. I can shoot one all day but it just doesn't feel right (yes I can shoot anything all day and like it, and do it well). I agree the small few that are pushing the open carry right now may be a bit much. Now is not the time to spook the libtards, though I agree gun control by their definition is a fantasy.

My tuned G19 is the first semi that I can honesltys ay I can hit what I aim at. It is a fine fine weapon and such a fun gun to shoot. I had it magna ported also and it shoots like a 22. virtually no recoil at all and just dead nuts accurate.

Unfortunately it is my range and home gun, just to big to go where my PM9 rides all the time..

I was at IKEA the other day with my wife, she is a professional organizer so this store comes in handy for her, however as we were leaving I noticed a "no weapons" sign in little letters on the bottom left side of there door. Doing a little research apparently they do not believe in our 2nd Adm. so they will not be getting my wives business any longer. As she refuses to do business with any place where she would be vulnerable to the bad guys.

I agree with all the midnight thoughts myself. From the tucked in shirt right on down the line.
I've also had several G27's, they seem to come and go, usually to cops that work here, now we've went to 45's so the little ones are now 30's for the most part.
Ironically one of them was thinking of getting a 27, I told him it would work very well for his backup in the vest and they were stone cold reliable, sent mine with him to the range to try. About his 3rd shot it did what yours did, the spring jumped over the guide rod, jammed it up bad. Brought my gun back in a sack. He still bought one. Glock told me they had a small batch that didn't have a good enough lip on that rod, sent me 2 for free and it never gave me trouble again. Guess you must have got one from the same small batch?????
Curious are you ok with your midnight thoughts this morning? I think you got it all pretty right on the mark.

Well Bawanna, if you can't look at yourself in the mirror when you shave and like what you see then you gots problems. I think many around here have those same kinds of thought, not at midnight but at some point anyway. Besides, whats the worst that could happen, some one think your crazy and leave you alone? There are worse things than that.

I fear a misenterpretation here. I agreed with every word of Olympicmotorcars middle of the night writings. I guess I was curious if he thinks the same way when awake and in full command of his senses? It's been a long long time since I've had any kind of grasp on my senses and you may have stumbled on to the reason people leave me alone alot. I have to agree that being left alone is not all bad either sometimes. Why is my head stuck on glove boxes now. I think maybe frankhenrylee hypnotized me thru cyber space. Crap I gotta go, the little people are on the other line. Hope my new tin foil hats are in.

I really like the smooth face of the trigger on my new Kahr, and wish my Glock had one like it.

Then replace the trigger with a smooth aftermarket one. Ain't that hard at all...

The only way someone will ever discover my weapon is if they frisk me or I have to walk through a metal detector.Uh, yeah... Because no one has ever been injured in a car accident (as a driver OR pedestrian)...or suffered a medical emergency like a heart attack, stroke, pass out, etc in public, right? The way a gun, in that case, would be discovered is NOT by forcible frisk, so don't say it would be the same thing.

Don't get me wrong, I am for gun owner rights (all rights, even open carry, ) but things just seem to be going too well for us right now and I do not want to see us lose any ground. Now, THIS...I agree with. This "IN YO FACE CUZ I CAN" Open Carry bullsh^t definitely CAN bite us in the ass. All these militant carriers who WANT media exposure do is mainly bring negative attention...and on a WIDE scale. Like the idiots open carrying around Obama rallies. You KNOW they were doing that on purpose just to draw attention to themselves in a VERY sensitive area. Look at CA. Especially the open carry Starbucks thing in CA...haven't we ALL heard about it by now? Technically, it IS legal to open carry an unloaded weapon (without a permit, obviously) and you can have loaded magazines, etc elsewhere on your person. OC in CA is legal ONLY because there's no law saying you can't...YET. I've heard, and personally agree, that this is only because it was an oversight because it was NOT ON THE RADAR of the majority of the people "thinking about guns". Well, guess what's happening now? Legislative movements to get this "loophole" closed and make OC ILLEGAL...as they feel it should have already been... I put up with CA for 18 years before I left for good, so I know something about this...

This same BS is going on right now in the sh^t toilet of a state (Connecticut) I just left. OC is "technically" legal for the same reason it is in CA. People are "stickin' it in YO FACE" when it comes to the media, legislature, public, etc. Even willing to get arrested and DEMANDING the politicians up in Hartford "clarify things" because police, by and large, treat OC as illegal. In fact, they are often told to arrest for OC (public nuisance/disturbance charge) at their departments and, possibly, even the academies, but that latter part is hearsay...but I wouldn't doubt it one bit. Keep it up idiots...you might very well just get the whole thing shut down.

I was agreeing as well. I too think that way when awake as well I forgot where I was going with that anyhow...must not have been a good one.

Went back to sleep about 4:00. This happens more and more often as I get older.
I was happy to hear from everybody on this post. I guess my midnight writing was not too crazy after all according to all your replies.

thanks for reading my post.

About the open carry comment: I agree, so many people are freaked out by guns. Who knows why they think that guns can go off by themselves. If the public started seeing guns everywhere they would start calling senators and govenors and our rights would be on the chopping block in the next election. It would be more convenient for us but in the end it would detract from our radical cause of wanting to defend our families. As far as where my gun points while its in the holster: I also was a little nervous about my gun pointing at my "other gun" if you know what I mean. The trigger design on the Kahr is ideal for concealed carry, long pull, couple more pounds than a glock or XD. I may be a little too comfortable with it now as I don't tend to worry about which way my muzzles pointing while its in the holster(within reason). The Kahr may be the best concealed carry gun around. I hate safeties and I don't want to have to rack a slide before I can shoot. The Kahr is ready to go at all times, and goes with me all the time. I may have to name her as she has become my constant companion. I'm thinking "Ellie Mae"

Good choice, has a nice ring to it, just make sure your wife knows about it so if you end up talking about Ellie Mae in the middle of the night your wife will understand. Why risk a arse whooping, know what I mean vern?

Hi Olympic, welcome to the family....I named my CW40 Lizzy Bruce, I had an aunt Lizzy who was the meanest, badest a$$ women around, nobody messed with her so I thought that name was perfect... I too find that the older I get the harder it is to sleep all night....Last fall I had neck surgery and was off work for 3 months and found that I wanted to sleep during the day and stay up all night...I got to where I couldnt stand daytime TV and night time seemed more natural to be awake, (must have been a vampire in a previous life)...Anyway welcome to the forum and wanted to say I agree with you about CCW....I see no reason to carry open if I have the option to CCW and I too carry everywhere, even if it is a gun free zone...The only time I leave the gun in the truck is when I have to go into my sons school but thats about it...In my state you are not allowed to carry into a sports event but if you have ever walked around downtown Atlanta after dark you had BETTER be armed so I always carry when going to a baseball or football game but don't advertise it...

Just look to the PRK (people's republik of kalifornia) they already are clamoring for a ban. As for the naming of a piece, its a time honored tradition, and the weapon should earn its name...
