i have a chance to get a ported barrel for my cw9 at a reduced price. should i ? dose it work ok in the cw ? thanks for help.
I think that would be the ported P9 barrel. The CW9 is the downmarket P9.... should fit. The frames are the same, the mags are the same...... I think Kahr says no, but users say yes, they're ok to fit back and forth.
Input from others appreciated!~

The ported barrel for the P9 fits the CW9 as well... according to Kahr. I got mine on sale at Kahr for $130... $30 off, but someone had one listed here about a week ago for $75... a pretty good deal. Wynn:)

Is there any significant advantage to using the ported bbl in the CW9?

It will give you some reduction of muzzle "flip". However, if shot from a "retention" position it could also give you some hot gas in the face. I would use them for the range but not for my EDC piece but that's just my opinion.
I personally would like a 4" barrel for my P9 without the porting for the extra velocity it would afford.

You haven't heard from everybody yet! Jocko's PM9 is Magnaported and he has shot over 32,000 rounds through it. I wouldn't let fear of the incredibly slim chance of blast in your eyes steer you away. I got an extended, ported barrel for my Walther PPQ 9 mm after I was surprised by the high felt recoil in that pistol - more so, it seems, than my little CM9. Very unpleasant. I haven't had a chance to get out and shoot it, yet, but I intend to do so soon. I also have some standard pressure 147 grain HP ammo I am going to try in it, too, because that ammo is reported to shoot milder.

Yes, the chance is slim but the more of a retention (close to your body) stance you have the greater the chance of it. Gas goes out the front (in every barrel) and up and to the front in a ported one. I've watched the LEO's practicing at the 3 yd line, retention stance to the point of the barrel being 8 inches behind their face. Not a place for a ported barrel.

The muzzle blast is directed forward of the muzzle and up a bit... much friendlier than the Mag-na-ported pistols or the Glock compensated ones which have perpendicular to the slide upward blasts.

You hardly notice the Kahr ported barrel flash. I have taken a lot of video of those three types firing and made still of the flashes and posted them on this forum.

I have the ported barrel for the CW40, and it helps with recoil and muzzle flip. I like it.

what if's.IMO.If ur looking for a reason to not port then u can find one,as well as i can find reasons to port..
I have never seen or heard of anyone loosing their nose or catching their cloths on fire from a ported gun. It might all be possable to do,but firing a gun from retentionis certainly not a normal way of firing and it is uncomfortable no matter what barrelis used. I would suspect u can get some damn good muzzle blast from anun ported barrel in that position. I personally pay zero attention to that scenario, as I will adreerss it when needed. in a time incidentt to me is not a criteria to not do it, but again itis one own call to make. I have shot ported guns for over 30 years,I would go no utter way. Not sure I would buiy one of kahrs extended ported barrels, not that they don't work butt o me they look like sh
!t and certainly gonna make hoster carry more selective.Just my 21 cents.
