I really like the sights on my CW9…..very quick acquisition…very accurate. It would be nice to have the same sights on some of my other guns. The sight looks like a XS Standard Dot Sight, but not Tritium. Does anyone know who manufactures the dot/bar sights for Kahr, and are these sights available for other guns?

Sig uses combat sights on some of their guns. I've gotten used to them and they seem to work really well for quick target acquisition.
When I traded my P9 for my current CW9, The guy I traded with told me that he was talking XSsights and they have a Big Dot sets available for the CW in both old and new slide types.
Look at the bottom of this linked page:
XS Sight Systems - Handgun Sights - 24/7 Express (http://www.xssights.com/store/handgun.html)
I was going to make a thread on this but I might as well do it here. I was considering less expensive option of replacing just the front sight. This keeps the original sight alignment and will require virtually no relearning...not to mention saves money :)
Dawson Precision has a nice FS for the CW.

New to the site here, but just to be sure, the XS system is for the CW9? Or are they saying that the P series would require the dovetails to be machined too?
I guess I'm basically asking is if both slides (CW and P series) need a gunsmith? Which I don't mind, I've already decided that the main requirement for me is the ability to put the XS sight on. Same theory as the reflex system I loved on my M4 and the fact that I probably won't be wearing glasses if I ever find myself in a situation.
To be perfectly honest though, if the front of the CW9 requires work to install the front anyway, has anyone thought of going with the rear set of XS and a fiber optic front? Or more specifically the TruGlo TFO's to make the argument moot entirely?
Pretty much I'm seeing if I should take the deposit back that I just put on the CW9 and wait for them to have a P9 available. If the difference in price is negated by getting a second magazine and installing the sights I want, I'd probably go with the one that looks a little better if the costs are about the same.
Oh, by the way, I noticed these a couple days ago and was the reason I put the deposit on the CW9 KAHR ARMS ONLINE SHOP (http://www.kahrshop.com/) (last one on the left side under sights; fiber optic).
Oh, one last thing; has anyone tried sending their CW9 off to cylinder and slide? If the price for the packages is the same, going with package 2 would give you the choice of the XS or the Novak and still keep the cost of the CW9 down eh?

the P series is dovetailed and xs sights will slide right in. the CW series is only dovetailed on the back sight. the front sight is pinned and no xs sights are available for th cw series, unless u dovetail the front of the slide..
If the extra bucks is no issue, buy the P9. It has dovetailed sights, It can be ordered in the DLC finsih. It has a forged slide stop, it comes with extra magazine, alittle more engraving on the P series slide, Polygonal rifled barrel. none of this comes with the CW series,
Now that being said the CW series is as good a shooter as the P series, basically no difference internally at all. P series seems harder to find sitting in dealer showcases where as the cw is more popular seller, due to cost.
If ur in no hurry do it your way, if you have to wait a month or so to get what you want, do it and then you will never look back with regrets either.
cylinder and slide does good work,k just way way way over priced and it takes 7 months to get a gunin there. They did most of the work in my PM9 and I would never do it with them again.

Yeah, that's what I figured. If the XS sights just slide right in on the P9, sounds like I'll just ask them to order me one and wait. I think they still have a P40, but I'm kind of leaning towards the blued slide anyway.
And not to hijack a thread, but is the felt recoil from a P40 a deal breaker vs the P9? This would be my first polymer frame, and I'm not accustomed to the scaling properties between caliber on significantly lighter setups.

recoil on a P40 vs a P9 will be excessive. IMO stick with the P9, you will love it and shoot it alot more also. That finish on the blakcened kahrs is a DLC , with a rockwell hardness of around 90. You will be hard pressed to ever wear it , let alone scratch it.
If your think ing of the xs sights, then indeed do not order it with kahr's night sights, as they don't come from the factory with xs sights on it..

Thanks for the response. I went over to the shop at lunch intending to switch the deposit to a P9 or P40, but basically it'd be too much of a hassle. I also took the time to take a good look at the sights and pretty much realized that it's basically identical to the XS setup in operation anyway. Just going to go with the fiber optic replacement Kahr is offering now and call it a day. I wanted a fiber optic more than a night sight anyway, so this ends up being significantly less expensive in the long run.

I have dawson fiber optics on my G19 and truly love um. You will on the CW also. Hell you can buy a P( down the road, but really the CW9 once you get ti willdo allthe P9 will, so go to the PM9 if anything.
The 40 cal kahrs in polymer frames are real kickers, course porting them can tame um down alot as many have done also...
