I went to the GS today as my XDS9 came in. The place was empty employees outnumbered customers 4 to 1. The XDS9 is a very nice pistol However the GS owner I've dealt with for years decided to low ball me on the PM9, ($375) that I was going to trade for the XDS and then decided to try to gouge me on the XDS for $579 for the all black Model. Simply told him. Thanks but NO thanks. Not when two weeks ago he quoted me $535 for the XDS and $400/$425 for the PM9. I guess that's one GS that has seen me buy my last gun from them. The young man behind the counter couldn't believe I didn't take the bait when it was right there in front of my face. Bottom line is the Kahr Has been a very good CC pistol for me and I refuse to give it away on a gun I really do not absolutely have to have. Good news is I'm in no hurry and he's not the only game in town.:D

Edzachery. Not the only shop in the business. Guy should be ashamed of himself for not sticking to his original numbers which were already plenty for him and not much for you.
Be strong.

That's the way I looked at it Bawanna. Don't change the game and low ball me on my PM9 and then want to charge me top dollar for the XDS. I'm sure He'll find some sucker to buy it for top dollar, but he lost a long time customer along the way. Doesn't make much business sense to me, but if it works for him in his mind I guess that all that really matters.

I went into an LGS last week and found an 9mm XDS for $639 for Stainless and next to it sat a 45 XDS for $539. There was also a Shield 9mm for $449. The salesman commented that the XDS 9mm was in great demand and the fact they even had one was justification to price them at this cost. If people remember how they get treated when these guns are not so in demand, some of these jerks would change their ways. There is another shop in the next town where I use his range a lot and he does not gouge people on gun prices. In fact, when the XDS 45's were short and people were getting well ove MSRP, he was selling his for $539. Here, some used ones were going for 6 bills! Anyway, glad you backed out of a questionable deal. I would like to have an XDS 9mm, but am not giving up the farm to get one! :amflag:

I look at it this way The XDS 9 is just another pistol and I have plenty already, and I'm a big believer that things happen for a reason. So maybe I'm not supposed to own that particular pistol.
I understand he's in the business to make money, but that does not mean I'm in the business of giving mine away so blindly so he can stay in business.;) I'm sure there will be other better deals in the very near future on an XDS 9. I'm in no hurry.

The old bait and switch. Same thing with buying cars. If a dealer changes the price or the trade-in after I'm sitting in the office, I'm out the door.

Their loss is your gain. I think you ended up with the better gun.

Oh I know my PM9 is a great pistol, there is no question about that, but as far as sayings it a better gun than the XDS 9. I think it's a little to soon to say that for sure, being the XDS 9 has only been out for about a month. I just think he thought, Well he's here, and has it in his hands, and wants to trade his PM9, and he's bought a few guns off me in the past so I'll maximize my profits. That might work on some customers but it did not work on this one. I'm not the type of gun owner that gets all crazy over the latest pistol on the market and pay out the nose for it. IMO only a fool throws away his money. Especially on something that is not an absolute necessity. I'd be much happier giving the extra money that he thought I should spend on that pistol to maximize his profits to the Wounded Warrior Fund.

What were you trying to gain with the XDs? It is considerably larger than your Kahr so it will be slightly more different to conceal. If your Kahr is proven reliable and you can shoot it accurately, I see no need to trade the Kahr in. Adding to your collection is one thing, but by replacing your Kahr, you may find other semi autos present other issues. I have a bunch of "just slightly larger" than my PM9 pistols in my safe and if I need to rely on total concealability, I always go to my PM9 or 340pd depending on the outfit I am wearing.
If you "need" the XDs get it later. I am not a "Kahr nut" but the PM/CM series is one hell of a gun to give up in a trade for a Shield or XDs. I doubt you will find a significant difference in reliability or accuracy. I paid $400 for the Shield, $50 for a sear to make the trigger the way I wanted it, and $100 for sights to make me happy.
My PM 9 was delivered to me on a instructors program direct from Kahr for about $500 with 3 mags and great factory night sights. I can't tell the difference between the two looking at a target I have just shot at 35' but I sure can feel the difference when it is on my IWB or in my pocket.

I agree, 340pd. The XDs may be a fine pistol, but it's not a replacement for the PM9. It competes more directly with the Shield and Nano than the PM9.

I just wanted a change as I've been CC my PM9 for 3-1/2 years. I'm not interested in adding another 9mm to my collection as the safe is full enough. Especially another one the size of the PM9 or XDS9. I'm at the point where one gun comes in, one must go out.
Not bragging, Just telling it like it is.
I'm glad you like your shield especially after you put another $150 into it to make it the way you like it. For a SD CC pistol, personally liked everything about the XDS9 the way it was straight out of the box.
