Does Kahr make a gun called the PMA 9mm?

I was at Gander Mountain yesterday and right next to a CM9 was a gun with a Gander Mountain tag on it that says PMA.

So I asked the clerk if it was a typo - if it was supposed to be a PM9 and the clerk told me that Kahr had changed the design and was now calling it PMA 9mm.

I didn't actually look at the gun itself. It was almost closing time. But today I've been Googling it and I was on Kahr's website and I can't find a PMA 9mm. It doesn't even fit Kahr's naming convention...

Is that clerk just stupid or have I no search fu?

It's the clerk... It's a shame that the big box stores put people into departments they are not truly knowledgable about, but its just how things are done nowadays
And if there were a pma, something tells me jocko or bawanna would have already known about it

I have a Kahr PMS. It's a dream to shoot most of the time but for 4 days per month it's just miserable.

Well I'm not on the board but I never heard of it. Seems I've seem PMA on price tags at other stores though. I suspect it's some sort of store code or something.

Not a new model far as I know.

I never been on a board before, well I was on a truancy board for a couple years, that was fun.

I better write the head man and see if there's enough room at the table for me.

Long as I don't have to wear a tie, ain't wearin no tie.

Recently had a clerk a very well known store spend half an hour telling me Kahr's were made in Germany. "The finest engineering in the world." He and his brother just came back from a trip to Germany where they visited the factory. Said it was amazing to see them built. I didn't say a word. Too much fun letting him go on and on.

The "beveled" slide PM9s do have "PM9093A" on the box label, perhaps the old "blunt nose" version didn't have that (being just PM9093)

They have to build really good (and accurate) guns in ethiopia because that chicken is fast... Still no one has bagged it yet.

The fact that this was at a Gander Mtn tells me all I need to know.

Once while at the mountain a nice young lady (and when I say nice i mean gorgeous) was looking at some pistols in the same case that I was drooling over some wheel guns. The clerk asked what she was interested in and she said she had never shot a gun before but wanted something for home defense. He tried pushing a walther ppk on her for 700 and change. Now don't get me wrong, the ppk was a fine gun for its day, and if she was James Bond I would have kept quiet. When the clerk walked away to help another customer I intervened. I explained to her this was a small underpowered pistol with small mag capacity for a HD gun and I directed her to a local LGS/range with a wide selection of rental guns and told her to try shooting them before she bought anything. i also told her to see the resident instructor for advice and that they also offer a free lesson with a new pistol purchase for new shooters. She left (I watched). A few weeks later I ran into her at that LGS. She couldn't thank me enough for the advice and was so pleased with her new pistol, a Glock 17. Moral of the story: when you see a beautiful girl getting bad gun advice, do your part as an informed consumer and help her. That, and the clerks at Gander are morons trying to push slow selling overpriced guns on beautiful unsuspecting women.

There is no shortage of inexperienced gun clerks at large, chain stores.

There is also is no shortage of customers who think they know more about guns than do gun sales people.

Know one can be expected to know everything about every make and model of gun. The correct answer from the clerk should have been, I don't know, but I'll find out for you. He was probably passing on misinformation that he picked up from another clerk. The moral of the story is, let the buyer beware.

Sorry to not get back to this sooner.

I went back to Gander Mountain, didn't get the same clerk who said so confidently that it was indeed a "PMA" and asked a different clerk "Are you sure that isn't a PM9? Can I see the gun?"

It was a PM9. The clerk said that the sign was a mistake and that they'd print up a new one. I saw him take the PMA tag off of it.

I also got super lucky and scored 2 boxes of CCI .22LR Stinger ammo ! It was expensive as hell, but hey, it's so scarce around my area I was glad to get it.

I'll gladly pile on Gander Mountian. Bought a used gun with assurances that it had a 30 day guarantee. When I returned 3 days later to talk about issues, I was told I would have to pay shipping to who knows where to their corporate gunsmith. Or I could buy a warranty that covers shipping. Not a big deal. Fixed it myself. Just not the kind of service that earns my repeat business. I know to stick to local shops from now on. Not that all local shops are great either but some are wonderful and I've made some friends. Bought a couple of mags the other day and the owner slipped a box of ammo in the bag too. Didn't even notice until I got home. Pleasant surprise.
