The latest incarnation of the AK-47, the AK-12 is being tested. It's a much more modern design than the 47 and 74.

For me the key is the absolute reliability. AK's will fire in conditions that will easily kill EVERYother battle rifle in existence. Hopefully the changes are not such that they modernize it too much and destroy what has made it what it is.
The article and the pics look good.

I really wanted to buy a AR style gun.
Preferably US made.
But after much research.
With absolute reliability being the primary deciding factor.
An imported 100% Bulgarian AK seemed like a wise decision.
At least I got one that runs on 5.56/.223 domestic ammo LOL!

I went 7.62x39 because you can't hunt anything except coyotes with .223 around here.

Well Barth, hope you're never involved in a shooting. The cops could dig that statement up, and use it to show you were looking for someone to shoot, and really throw a monkey wrench in your defense.

Not exactly. Barth's statements lack "mens re" and thus are general in nature and not a particularized threat toward any individual. Besides all fowl walks on two legs so problem solved.
