"Fa-nu-gee" or Fantastic New Guy. :D
Just bought a used CM9 to replace my Ruger LC9... Love the Ruger. Then I bought a Glock 26 Gen 4.... Although the LC9 is not a target competition gun, I just shot better with the Glock 26. When I did not know better, when I only had the Ruger, I was happy. I shot well with Ruger. Then I got the Glock. I just shoot faster, more accurately with more confidence. Not to mention, if I want to haul around 11 rounds (10+1) or +2 more to that, with base plate finger extension I can. I also have 15 round Glock 19 magazine with X-grip sleeve.... . Glock a lot more gun, more fire power, Glock reliability.
Spring forward, I sold my Ruger LC9 on Armslist, locally. With cash in hand, another area gun range, about the only one that does not have inflated prices, had a CM9 on consignment. Price was right, $388 + tax + background. I was not going to buy another gun, since I had the Glock, but I went and shot the CM9; it had the trigger I wish the LC9 had. Plus it was smaller and lighter than the Glock.
I could have done the Galloway Trigger bar/hammer/trigger Mod to the Ruger for about $100. I'm sure that would have made it perfect, but two things stopped me: One, possible liability in a court of law; prosecution could say, "He put a hair trigger on it....."; Second, Galloway modifies your existing trigger bar and hammer. You can't get the stock parts to replace or modify. Ruger stopped selling these items. Not being able to return to stock setup was a bummer. Galloway said they were going to make their own trigger bar and hammer, but it has been a year. I gave up waiting.
If you have to send your modified LC9 to Ruger for repair, they will take those parts out and charge you. Ruger is fantastic, they don't have a date limited warranty, basically they warranty the gun for an indefinite period (read long time); as long as you don't abuse it or the gun is not ancient they will fix it. Ruger LC9 will eat any ammo, including +P to cheap re-loads, super reliable, 400-500 rounds before selling, not one hiccup.
Now, I got a CM9 (used). The Glock 26 is still great, but some times I want something a little smaller (thinner) and lighter than a G26. Then I read about all the CM9/PM9 failures to go bang, stovepipe, failure to feed. I am not worried, we shall see. I don't know how many rounds have been through my used CM9. I'm guessing (truly a guess) no more than 400, could be as low as 50 or 100. It seems to have not been use much. If it proves unreliable at the range it is going bye-bye. If the Glock and the Ruger 9mm's can run with out failures, the CM9 should as well. Since these are true personal defense weapons, they have to be 100%.
