God bless these valiant firefighters and give comfort and solace to their family and friends. They are true heroes who gave everything they had attempting to protect the people, their homes, and wildlife of Arizona.

"YARNELL, Ariz. (AP) — The lone survivor of an elite firefighting crew that was trapped and killed by an Arizona wildfire escaped because he was moving the crew's truck when the flames roared over the men.
The wind-whipped fire trapped 18 members of a Prescott-based "hotshot" crew and another man working with them Sunday. All 19 died despite deploying tent-like fire structures designed to deflect the heat and flames.
Arizona State Forestry Division spokesman Mike Reichling says one member of the hotshot crew survived after separating from the team to move its vehicle.
Southwest incident team leader Clay Templin says the crew and commanders were following safety protocols, but it appears the fire's erratic nature simply overwhelmed them.
Reichling says the blaze roughly 85 miles northwest of Phoenix has burned 13 square miles with zero containment."

We have lost too many firefighters this year! We lost several in Houston back in May. I pray for protection and comfort for the families that have lost loved ones.

These guys were truly the BEST of the best!

My heartfelt condolences go out to their families, friends, and fellow fire fighters!

This is indeed a very sad, horrific, and tragic loss!

(BTW, having learned that the US Weather Svc in Flagstaff continually warned the US Forest Service "Incident Team" Supervisors ALL that morning long before the tragedy occurred that conditions were rife for sudden and dramatic fire direction changes and that all aircraft had been grounded long before the hot-shot team resorted to their last-ditch fire bags, I ALSO pray that their sacrifice was also NOT needless and/or senseless!)

BTW, I've lived in AZ since 1959 and know that the little community of Yarnell will never be the same after this!
