....to our Nation. Happy 4th of July to all.

Any chance we can all get along long enough to celebrate our free nation's 237th for at least one day and in at least one, single, respectful thread free of political eye poking/back stabbing?

Especially as a combat vet, I would like and appreciate that very much. :Amflag2:

I often find myself reflecting on how blessed we are to live in the good old USA.

Itxi, most people don't even like God telling them what to do ... so I doubt that you and I can expect any greater influence.

It is a great day to celebrate our freedom and a good reminder to keep it that way! God Bless the USA!

I've always felt uncomfortable when someone thanked me for my service. I've always thought that by serving my country was just repaying a debt I owed to those who served before me who enabled me to live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth. Celebrate your independence and may God bless the USA. Happy 4th.

I have that "problem" as well. My early coherent childhood was post WWII and I've always felt a real debt to my parent's generation for my not having to learn German and/or Japanese.

I had seven uncles who served in WWII. Two were in the D-Day invasion, one in the battle of the bulge, one fought Rommel in Africa, and one who served at Iwo Jima and Okinawa as a marine. My seventh uncle served in the Navy on a destroyer in the N. Atlantic. All of them survived the war, but only two survive to this day. All served proudly and well.

Yeah... Not as known distinguished but my father, uncles, 50's neighbors, and a tank driver father-in-law were all WWII vets. Some combat, some not. None to my knowledge are still living today. My 10 year older first cousin did Korea. All I ever got to contribute to was 'Nam. Pitiful payback to the legacy....
