I always enjoy learning about the technical aspects of the things I own and I've often wondered what type of steel is used for the receivers in the K series Kahrs. I do know that they are a casting, but the type of steel used has never been mentioned anywhere that I'm aware of.
Inquiries to Kahr go unanswered.
I find it curious that on their web site they make a point to mention that the slides are machined from 416 stainless bar stock. They mention that both the barrel and slide stop pin are made from a high strength proprietary steel. Even the magazines are mentioned. But there is no mention whatsoever of the receiver.
I thought I'd post the question here, just in case someone may know.
