I've got a CW9 which is super reliable. I've been carrying Hornady's Critical Defense in it at 115 gr. I'm wondering if a 147 gr. round might be better out of such a short barrel. Any thoughts?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Unless you want to be like the USNavy, where they take every piece of gear apart to clean it, whether it needs it or not. They repeat the cleanings on schedule, even if the gear hasn't been used, until it breaks. Then they tag it Tango Uniform and wait for someone to come and fix it.

I prefer the heavier round for winter months when the projectile may have to penetrate several heavy layers of clothing. During the warm weather months the 124 gr. bullets work well. If you CM9 is anything like my CM9 it will digest damn near anything you feed it. Save the light weight bullets for the range.

Rem Golden Saber HPJ 147gr was recommended by a trusted LGS. But I haven't needed one yet. Hope I never do.

I have some of this left over when my primary HD firearm was a 9mm. I'll post up my results when I get to the range next.

Critical Defense and Critical Duty leave very nasty wounds to see at autopsy.

I prefer bonded bullets and use the +P 124-grain Speer Gold Dots, Short Barrel version. These are designed and loaded to perform in shorter-barreled pistols... penetrate and expand, and use lower-flash powder.
But... you can only use what you can find! Just make sure it functions reliably in your pistol... and practice with the SD ammo as well as the same weight FMJ.

Thanks for all the good info guys. Sounds like the Hornady is a good choice. I'll probably stick with it.
We try to keep (and do have) any of the following for all of our handguns:
Hornady Critical Defense
Hornady Critical Duty
Speer Gold Dot
Remington Golden Saber
