i would like to hear from others as well. I have had no issues so far with hornady critical duty or the hornady XTP. i have not tried any others though.

I've used federal HST 147 Gr., golden saber 124 gr. hornady XTP And Hornady Critical Defense. All without a single malfunction.

I'd stay away from all of it. If it hits you it could be painful. :)

good to hear on the hst. i had heard they were a little longer than some others and may cause a problem. i might have to pick some up and try it now, i like the idea of 147 gr and standard pressure. An idea of the ballistics and expansion out of the short barrel?

Can't help you there. I've always carried 147 gr. HST because i was impressed with the expansion and penetration statistics, but recently I saw a video on the hornady Critical Defense rounds and they are specifically formulated for short barrel guns. They are also made to penetrate thick clothing and still expand 1.5 times diameter and penetrate 12 ins. consistently, while retaining bullet weight.
When I saw this I was going to say you’d get more replies by asking what does work.
Anyway.. Gold Dot- 124+p and 147, WWB- 115 and 147 JHP, UMC- 115 JHP all flawless here...PM9.

First outing
200 handloads (about:blank#) 135 gr (about:blank#) lead flat nose
50 Federal Classic Hi-Shok (about:blank#), 9mm (about:blank#) Luger
No issues
I failure to go into battery with a reload @ about round 75
I did not prep gun
I was curious to see how it would run
This is replacement for my S&W (about:blank#) Airweight (about:blank#) Bodyguard
After 30 years with me I found the frame is cracked

No one can tell you what will work in your particular gun. Every gun is different. Only your gun can tell you what it likes and it ain't talking. Feed it any good quality self-defense ammo and see if it spits it out or throws it up.

my usual carry load is federal's 115gr 9bp. functioning is flawless. however even the range reloads work great with the standard magazines in my cm9. i have never had a malfunction. i am thinking the gun has about 1,000 rounds through it.

SF:
I own a PM not a CM so maybe not exactly the same, but certainly more similar than dissimilar.
So far it shoots w/o failure S&B 115g fmj, Speer lawman 147g FTMJ, WWB 115g fmj, Rem 115g HP's, Win Ranger Bonded 147g (RA9B) and RA9T. Plus some old reloads of mine from the early '80's, soft point HP's and lead solids.
Yes, I know we're not supposed to send lead solids down the polygonal tube, but they seemed to work just fine.
I'm over 1000 rds total now and have not run into anything it won't shoot.
YMMV.

I bought a box of Zombie's and the first time I pressed the slide release the leading edge of the bullet got hung up just before it cleared the edge to be chambered in the barrel. It did not touch the bullet slide(the barrel and its slide area) as it is chambered. Sorry for my terminology. I wondered if maybe the plastic matl. at the leading edge of the bullet may have touched a part of the gun and slowed down the chambering action just enough to cause problem).
