Some good
Some bad....

Yes, some good and some really bad!
Inside a garbage bag of dirty clothes... Really?
= High possibility that the Goodwill worker who sorts the trash bags of donated clothes (and who happens to be prohibited to own a firearm) will hit the jackpot.
Inside a large pizza box wedged between the trash bin and the wall.
= High possibility your gun will shut down a recycling facility when it starts shooting at the equipment that is trying to crush it.

The first places the people that are coming for your guns will look. If they don't find the guns you won't be able to use most of them anyway because they will be rusted out or thrown out with the trash.
People checking your house will find this thread will check all those spots first. If you post something better on this thread, they will check that one first of all.

I don't really see ONE there that's a good idea.
An immovable gun safe is the only good option to secure them from theft. On your person is the only good option for when you need it while you are awake. Depending on how heavy you sleep, at the head of your bed in a bed/mattress holster (heavy sleeper) or on your night stand (light sleeper), are the only good places at night.
Beyond those locations, you are asking for it to be found by an intruder, child, or thrown out inadvertently.

When they come for my guns I plan to give them my guns right after I give them my bullets. :)

This goes right along with my line of thinking.

At my house the only gun that isn't in the safe is the one that's tucked into my waistband.

I appreciate that thread just because I think it's a good discussion to have once in a while. Being new to all of this stuff (i.e. guns, concealed carry, loaded chamber, safes, etc.), I need to be reminded of it just like I need to practice, practice, practice.

+1
Also a car safe that is cabled to a seat.
It's not as good as the above ideas but if you have to leave your gun in your car it's better than a locked glove compartment.

Yea, the car is a tough one. Plenty of places that you either cannot or out of respect for private property rights should not carry. So you are left w/ leaving it in your car. It'd be nice if someone made a good solution beyond a cabled box...but not sure I've run across one. I've toyed w/ the idea of something in the trunk, mounted to the steel of the car somewhere, but most modern cars that's getting harder and harder to do. Dunno. Would love to hear some thoughts/ideas on this one!?
Truck has a G23 resident in the console. Car has a G27. Separate weapons from on body carry. No worries.

Do most laws that forbid carrying in various places refer to the whole gun, or even to parts of a gun also? I know it probably sounds stupid, but what if you broke down a gun ... which with a Kahr is relatively easy to do ... would it be ok to carry the frame or the slide and leave the one or the other in the car?

I think this website is more about hiding from the government and not from thieves...

Yea, guess you could do that. But not sure I want to be in the business of unloading a firearm (I always carry round chambered) while seated in my car. One, dangerous. Two, visible to anyone walking by, including a police officer. Neither are good.
As to the legality, would probably be considered the same as a firearm either way given the PC stupidity that exists in this country today...and it would also depend on the state/local laws and the signage. Some states signs carry the force of law, others do not. I personally respect signs since its private property. I just don't go anywhere w/ signs unless I absolutely HAVE TO (work, bank, etc) and I make sure to know up front whenever possible to prevent having to disarm/rearm in the car. Right now, I use the locked glove box.

If one got hit with that bullet, you would get a nasty bacterial infection! And what about the smell of the bullet wound?:D
