first this is not bashing my cm9. i love my cm9 and routinely carry it. i have never had a malfunction with the six round magazine even when shooting range reloads.

so with that out of the way has anyone seen rust on the magazine release button?

Yep! Some people have access to the more durable coatings, like Cerakote and recommend them. Me, I'm cheap. So, a little Rust-Oleum from the rattle can I use on my mail box about twice a year keeps mine looking like new, rather the ugly, rusty thing I found in my pocket one day last year. :)

The DeSantis pocket holster I use most of the time does not shield the catch from body moisture. Rust seems to rear its ugly head in the summer time, even here in relatively dry Tucson. I can imagine damper climates would make it more troublesome.

Oh, and there are lots of rust preventive lubricants out there too. Expect some of the experienced folks to chime in with their favorites any minute now. :D
