Seriously, though, it wouldn't cost Kahr hardly anything at all to offer a PM9 Black or something similar to the person who posts thread number 25,000. Maybe some of the other advertisers might want to join in and offer something as well. It wouldn't be that difficult to spread the word about the offers through Facebook and other forums. It might generate some new interest in checking out KahrTalk. Thread 15000 was hit on September 25, 2012, so thread 25,000 should come due sometime around next April or May, if not sooner.

I have thought about post count based awards before, but the problem you hit is members can start posting random stuff to drive their count up. I have seen this happen on other forums. I realize it would take a lot of posts to get from a small number to 25K, but I hate to see a race to the top among those already near the figure. If/when we do promotions, I prefer to have some random selection method so everyone has a shot, or a fixed number and first come, first served, such as when we gave away Kahr hats in the very beginning.

You missed my point. MD_Vet doesn't have 20,000 posts to his credit, rather, he started the 20 thousandth thread. I'm suggesting a prize for the person who starts the 25 thousandth thread when that time comes. Or if you don't like that idea since people could be sitting there counting threads at the last minute waiting to jump in ... pick a number at random between 24,500 & 25,500 and make that thread the winner.

If the general idea is something you've already thought about, then tweak the idea until you end up with an idea that will work.

Actually run its course is more a JohnH or JustinN line but I probably am in a rut. I'll try to change it up some for a little variety.

Mr. Bogart is probably not going to spring for something after-the-fact ... but we should try to get him to buy into the idea of something down the road. What would it hurt to try and ask Kahr to offer something ... the worst that could happen is they could just say no.

Shoot ... I'd even be willing to administer the contest with the understanding that I couldn't win anything.

You're right ... he hasn't been on since July 9th.

I just talked to JFootin and he's fine. He had a computer virus and had to buy a new computer and has had some problems getting used to it.

Yeah.. me too. When someone posts as often as he does and has a history of heart problems etc and then there are no posts for awhile, makes you think. Thanks Rev for checking up on him. :)
