View Full Version : Guide rod scoring
I've noticed some guide rod scoring on my CW9 (with about 900-1000 rounds fired). Is this considered normal? It seems to be most prevalent about 1 inch from the muzzle end where most of the black finish is gone. I do lightly coat the rod with TW25B grease after each trip to the range.

Completely normal and it won't affect anything. Just keep on shooting.
My CW9 was like that and my CM45 is too.
I wasn't all that concerned, just thought I'd put it out there. Thanks for the response.

Yea, the Kahr guide rods get beat up pretty quick (but they will still function fine). I made some options for myself that are pretty cool. I hope to have them ready to sell (some day).

Thanks for the link. Nice work, too, BTW.

alot of pressure on the trcoil the guide rod will show wear/scoring but it efects nuttin. I ut alittle grease around my guide rod and latleyhave been using the Remington dry lube as it doesn't attract crapola. My K9 looks perfect and has beenin there for 5000 plus rounds.
shoot it like u stole it and put that worry behinbd you

Oh, it wasn't a worry, really. Just was askin'. It hadn't and won't reduce or stop me from any range exercises. I've been using the TW25B on the guide since day one but may give the dry RemLube (already on-hand) a shot for a few range trips.
Other than finally figuring out why my CT was so far off target (darned date of manufacture sticker was interfering with the fit where it compresses against the trigger guard), there's not one thing that worries me about this gun.
