I happened to watch a video in which a guy compares a Sig 290 to a kahr CM40.
In the video he states in his summary that what really puts the Sig on top is that the slide rides on 4 steel rails while the Kahr rides on plastic that shreds.
(Here's the vid)

He is disseminating complete bunkum as we Kahr folks know that the plastic rails serve only as a guide and the front of the slide actually rides on the longer steel rails that are in the dust cover, or at least that's how I understand it to work.

When I was telling my friend I bought a Kahr he also told me he wouldn't own a gun that had no steel rails in the frame. I promptly tore my gun down and showed him the steel rails. I guess seeing is believing as he now owns a CM9 lol

I haveto agree I would want steel rails like kahrs have, but ifI rememberright some years back , did not Ruger make a semi that road on polyomer rails???

He also forgot to do a weight comparison.....advantage Kahr. The only thing he was right about is the magazine. It is the only thing I don't like about my Kahr pistols.

Agree about the magazines...That Sig sure is a nice looking gun though and I like what they did with the mag well, it just looks finished unlike the Kahr mag well, magazines and that crappy looking hole in the end of the grip frame which to me looks like they are missing something that should be there...
Anybody know how the Sigs reliability has been so far and why did they come out with the 290rs (restrike) version? Was there a problem with the original 290?....I had someone ask me about a Sig 290 recently and I had to say I had never seen one in person, only in pictures so I couldn't say but I will say from the video it looks like a nice pistol and IMHO it sure looks nicer than the Beretta Nano....

Yes you are correct; my Ruger p345 rides on polymer rails, but they run the full length of the frame.
850 rounds and no sign of wear. The most accurate 45 I ever owned, and I've owned a few.
