I have a new p380 serial # starts with RD1 which I believe is fairly new production. The first time I shot it I had frequent FTRB. I emailed Kahr and they sent me new recoil springs. I have read here that the inner spring has been redesigned. The new recoil spring has one less coil and is definitely stiffer. My question is if my p380 is new production, why didn't it come with the redesigned spring?

Does anyone know if the new recoil springs are used to be used only if problems arise? Or should they be standard equipment on new P380s

I seriously doubt if they have a recoil springfor the P380- in different poundages for different issues reported. Possably the newspring u recieved today is in allthe P380 andthey just was getting ridof theolder stock springs, whcih basically gave no issue for most P380. I do think they went to alittle stronger spring to get better lock up.

Unlesskahr tellsu thereis a difference,I would say that sometimeswhat u read herefromsomeof us members is theory not fact...

It is also important to keep you pistol well lubed during the break-in period. Running the gun too dry will contribute to FTRB. Once the parts marry it isn't quite as critical. Read the proper prep of a Kahr sticky in the new members section.

+1 on proper cleaning and lube PRIOR to the first range trip. I find it hard to believe the # of people on ALL the forums I frequent (not just Kahr) where folks fire the gun right out of the box.

I kept my P380 lubed and clean and still got FTRTB failures. I emailed Kahr about it and they said there was a new recoil spring and sent it to me for free.
